Thanks Jack, I am sure that Pen, will appreciate the link, especially if she has never seen the show before.
When i first moved into my apartment building at Spring Hill , i had a lot of things to organise & familiarise myself with so i prioritised accordingly & my first objective was of course to identify what would be my local, not as easy as it sounds because i was spoilt for choice.
As it turned out the closest venue was just 5 minutes walk down the hill, to this day, for some reason which i cannot understand that 5 minute walk back home up the hill can take up to 30 minutes?
Anyway, would you believe that the name of my local was " Cheers " & the first time that i went there i was served by a barman who recognised me as a newcomer & introduced himself as Sam. ( Sam Malone was the head barman & main character from the T.V. show Cheers ).
Jack, i tried to come up with some facts & figures for you but i just do not have your incredible googling skills, i can tell you that Cheers on Boundary Road was originally named the International Hotel but changed their named to Cheers for many years before new management decided to go upmarket & reverted to their original name which they still retain today.
Cheers Les
