eclipse safety
« on: August 17, 2017, 01:14:55 PM »
Earlier today it was forcefully brought to my attention that some of our employees, including engineers, do not have a sound footing in safe practices for viewing solar eclipses.

I found this rather astounding and very disturbing.  There are many web sites out there with good info, including www.nasa.gov, but they had not done ANY research.

There are many manufacturers of eclipse viewing glasses.  Some are legitimate, tested and proven, others not.  Of the untested glasses, some are safe and others not so.  The cost is about $4 for two pairs of the eclipse viewing glasses that are tested and proven safe.

I might have to do a blog on our intranet and see how quickly we can push it through and officially published.  We do have an engineer who also specializes in optical safety, and that would be me.  We have some laser products.
