Voting in elections
« on: November 13, 2016, 02:28:52 AM »
Listening to the statistics that have been quoted about what percentage of various parts of the population (white women, hispanic women etc.) voted for Trump it sounds as if the ballot forms are personalized in some way. Is this the case, or are the figures extrapolated from exit polls? Over here the papers are completely anonymous which is as it should be.

Dear Pat,

None of those characteristics are distinguished on our ballot papers. In some primary elections, ballots are distinguished by party affiliation, but less and less often now that many of those races are open to all voters.
I think all the demographic information results from polls of one kind and another.

Best Wishes,
