Singlet

Is singlet (in the Standard puzzle for 12 September 2016) unknown enough to be a rare word?

Just in case it is, it's a sleeveless top like this:

This one goes back a few years.

It's basically 'rare' because the word's not used in US.

Les, what happened to your post? I was about to reply and it's disappeared.

While it was wet and cold in Melbourne yesterday, Melbourne men are REAL men, and with our hairy chests*, we don't need singlets!

G'day Yelnats ,

My post was actually under the cerulean thread ( trying to get a bite out of Alan ) , should still be there.

As demonstrated by Hugh in the avatar , due to the low cut of the chesty bond singlet , your hairy chest will still receive plenty of exposure.

Ah. I checked the word suggestions (https://theforum.lexigame.com/index.php/topic,2700.0.html) and couldn't find it but didn't check the previous forum suggestions.

8? Wow.

I remember someone once telling me that when he was at school one of his friends had a single chest hair that he called Rodney. He was very proud of Rodney. One day the other boys ganged up on him and plucked Rodney out.

I'm used to seeing the word "singlet" in other contexts, such as "singlet oxygen", in which the oxygen atoms are especially reactive, courtesy of having different arrangements of antibonding π electrons.
