www.chipuzzle.com is dead. Long live
www.chihuahua-puzzle.com!
For a few years we have had two copies of the Chihuahua site, running on different servers, managed by different hosting companies and based in different cities. The aim being that nobody need ever miss out on playing Chihuahua.
This system has generally worked well as far as I can tell, but the alternate site at
www.chipuzzle.com was not as reliable as the original site,
chi.lexigame.com. I had contemplated switching to a different hosting provider, but I was deterred by the complications of setting everything up on a new server and getting the two databases to be properly synchronised.
Then last week the site at chipuzzle.com stopped working. Eventually I worked out that several standard software modules that Chihuahua relies on to maintain the puzzle data had been dropped from the chipuzzle server. The hosting service have made it clear they do not intend to fix this problem, so I had no choice but to take my business elsewhere.
Hence the new alternate site, now up and running:
www.chihuahua-puzzle.com. This site is based in the USA, unlike the lexigame and chipuzzle sites, so it may provide slightly quicker load times for players in the Northern Hemisphere. More importantly, the new hosting service is reputed to be highly reliable.
As before, it is your choice which of the two addresses you use. Scoreboard details and other information will generally be the same on both sites, sometimes after a short delay. Scoreboard records before 1 May are not shown at the new site.
(The old address,
www.chipuzzle.com, will still work for a while, redirecting you to the new site,
www.chihuahua-puzzle.com. Eventually the chipuzzle.com address will stop working.)
