System problems
« on: April 28, 2016, 11:23:57 AM »
One of the websites running Chihuahua - the main one, chi.lexigame.com - wasn't running properly for several hours until about half an hour ago.

It looks like the measures I've taken to handle such situations worked pretty well. Hopefully the only problems visible to people using the site were that other players' scores did not display and dictionary definitions could not be viewed. Everything should be back to normal now.

Let me know if you see anything wrong from now on.

There is definitely still a problem somewhere as i am finding it difficult to achieve a rosette or to match Alonzo's perfect scores ..... oh wait , i think the problem might be the user  ;D

How strange!  I seem to have the same problem.  Must be a computer virus.

The scoreboard on the Chipuzzle site hasn't been working for me since yesterday afternoon, so I've had to switch to the chi.lexigame site.  Has anyone else been experiencing this?

Yes, I've had intermittent problems with that too. Seems ok now.  :)

It looks like there is a problem on chipuzzle today similar to the problem on lexigame yesterday, but the solution that worked on lexigame isn't working on chipuzzle. I have contacted the hosting service for advice. In the meantime it's probably safest (less danger of losing your words) to go to http://chi.lexigame.com.

I'm guessing these problems were triggered by a software update on the servers. Just lucky for us the two servers weren't updated on the same day.

Just got a rosette so no problem here!

Apart from the intermittent missing score.

Well done mate ... It would appear that this incredibly powerful virus is attacking certain users at random while other players seem to remain unscathed ?

Can't wait to see what Alan's solution will be for this one. ;)

I am still not able to access the scoreboard at chipuzzle.com. Happily I can easily get to chi.lexigame.com.

The problems on chipuzzle.com are more serious than I thought at first. I recommend everyone use chi.lexigame.com until further notice.

Les303, Going back to your comments re Alonzo, I was on the same score (about 35) as Alonzo a few minutes ago. Al is now on 84 and I've made it to 42. I suspect at the next update Al wil have the cup and rosette and I'll still be on 42!

It is my suspicion that Alonzo is the mastermind behind this terrible virus.
He obviously does not like your user name (what in the hell is a yelnat anyway ? ) or mine for that matter so is targeting us & many others at every opportunity just to ensure that our scores are kept low while he remains the only one on top of the scoreboard.

Seriously though is Al a forumite & if so has anybody simply asked him how he does it.
I mean is he just an absolute genius when it comes to this word game or does he have some brilliant system that assists him.

So Al , if your reading this would you like to share.?
Are you just an incredibly gifted individual with maybe a photographic memory or have you been clever enough to develop a program that guarantees you a perfect score every time.
I reckon ,good on you which ever one it is but just very curious as i'm sure many other players are as to exactly how do you do it ?

Regards Les

Yelnats is a false plural, so there is no yelnat.

QU'E

So is Yelnats an actual name or a clever synonym for something & do you reckon that there is any chance of us ever getting a response from Alonzo or perhaps one of the other players that are consistently at the top of the scoreboard.?
