This arv? That sounds like a good Aussie expression.

I'd classify arv as rare, but arvo as common! Arv may be Queenslandish.

" this arv " just went in there without even thinking about.
As i've said earlier i am a fairdinkum novice at all this computer / on line /email stuff & just stumbling my way through with my one finger typing & keep forgetting that people  all over the world can read my posts so would just like to apologise in advance should i inadvertently offend anyone as that is certainly not my intention , i'm just here for a bit of entertainment & fun & really enjoy playing chihuahua.
So Pat , just for ur amusement ,i will try to add a few extra colloquialism's in any future posts.
{By the way , fairdinkum means honestly / truthfully / genuine )
Will be heading off to my local watering hole shortly ,just to grab a feed ,sink a few & get amongst the neddies...Hoorroo Les

I'm glad you're interested in Letterbox, Les. It's the first game I put online - in 2002! As I always say to people, if you keep playing your game may improve, but Lexi's won't.

I've just tried Letterbox for the first time too Les. It is indeed a bit addictive! Re colloquial "Aussie-isms" - this arv or arvo is so frequently used all across Australia, it could be classified as a common word :)
Something else that's become distinctly Australian a little more recently is the practice of saying "yeah,no" or "no, yeah" - don't ask me why!!! My American friends living here particularly notice it, now I do too! Anyone else? (Did you sink a pony at the watering-hole Les?)

Gooday Alan ,

I'm so naive , i had no idea that u actually created these sites , no point in me telling u how good they are as their popularity speaks for itself but i do hope that u derive plenty of satisfaction from knowing that myself & many others receive hours of enjoyment playing ur games.
Since Letterbox has been around for so long (who knew ) have u ever considered an upgrade.
I've no idea if it's even possible but increasing the capability to 5 or 6 letter words would be interesting.
Once again , many thanks for the pleasure that ur games provide.

                                                                                                Regards Les

Hi HOD ,
Nice to hear from u for the first time.
I see that ur from Melbourne & like me have been around the block more than a few times so i don't need to explain anything to u about aussie - isms.
As for the yeah /no rubbish , i hate it , it's just lazy & shows a lack of intelligence.
I would much prefer that when somebody is responding to me or to a general statement that  they either agree or they don't & they should have the balls to express their opinion & argue their case.
Didn't sink a pony but did down several schooners this arv & also backed Capatalist to win the slipper. ( Pat..Golden Slipper with prize money of 2 million $ to the winner is currently the richest race for 2 year old horses in the world )...gotta go , the footies coming on..cheers les

It can't be a common word unless it's used here in America, where English originated.

What he said. Oops - I see he missed out an adjective before the word English...

I wouldn't like to suggest one, Birdy, for fear of starting a riot.  :o
