Thanks for the birthday wishes! It was a wonderful day. RD #1's schedule did not permit going to the Afghan restaurant or the chocolate restaurant. Instead, we went for brunch at a wine bar/bistro near RD #1's apartment. Excellent! I had a very tasty huevos rancheros benedict washed down with an Australian shiraz/malbec blend. We went elsewhere to have some tasty chocolate cake and coffee. The weather cooperated magnficently. Balmy temperatures (for November) and maximum sky, couldn't be better. All of my gifts thoughtfully fed into my current drive to learn the Norwegian language. I started studying Norwegian before our trip to Norway this past summer, and I have continued after our return. The payoff, I hope, will be that I will be able to converse in their own language with my husband's many Norwegian cousins, a number of whom are now my Facebook friends. They are pretty fluent in English, but they tend to post in Norwegian, naturally enough.
