inappropriate superlatives
« on: April 02, 2015, 04:07:55 AM »
I am sure that many of you share my sentiments when we see a superlative used when it clearly does not apply.  A superlative is an absolute; you cannot be lighter than the lightest or taller than the tallest.

Chihuahua scores have rankings of "Good", "Better", "Best", "Maven" and "Cham".

The ranking of "Best" is clearly not the best.  Every day several scores are ranked either "Maven" or "Cham".

It is abundantly clear that we are using the word "Best" improperly.  I'm sure that Alan will be most anxious to correct this situation as quickly as possible, if not sooner.

I recommend using the word "Betterer".

I'll certainly look into your thoughtful suggestion, non-A. I always welcome comments from players, especially those submitted at this time of year.
