I got 77/78 common words in yesterday's 10 letter puzzle.  The word I missed could not have summed up my reaction better - dammit!  What makes it even more frustrating was the fact that I actually saw it and thought "Nah, that's not a proper word."  I'll know better next time.

A bit like the 'gimme' that got me in the 'magnetism' game a few days ago. Actually, that may have helped me this time, because I saw 'damme' (uncommon) first, before seeing 'dammit'.

I still think there was a ruling a while back that all these colloquial contractions (gonna, oughta etc) were to be uncommon, but can't find it in the archives.

What bothers me is that the accepted word is "dammit" and not "damnit" which is obviously where it came from.  Dad gummit, there outta be a law!
