this is a new one on me...is it code for something rude...certainly sounds like it...is it another more delicate name for a battery operated girlie toy???

Not really, T, but you aren't very far off.  This is not a code name for the artificial variety.  Batteries are not needed.  :o

It shouldn't be that hard to figure out...maybe take away half of the word and see what it says. ;)

Roanoke Virginia is pleasant this time of year. Rather mild. So, that's not it.
I JUST WANT KNOW MORE ABOUT THE PET, A Non-Amos.
IF THE OTHERS WOULD JUST GET SERIOUS! THEY'VE PROBABLY SCARED YOU OFF!

I hope you are not offended.  I was trying to make a joke.  No, I do not have a small African antelope.

It would be difficult to acquire a dik-dik (very hard, indeed!).  According to wikipedia, they like to live in the bush.

I knew straight away what you were getting at, A.

Maybe it's a guy thing. Or maybe it's just that people weren't expecting double entendres from you, whereas with some of the other forumites we automatically scan each message for smutty meanings before taking anything at face value.

Now let's not get back to THAT, Anonsi. I'm already miffed about it not really being the kind of housepet I had envisioned. Here I had hoped it was a genuine miniature African antelope and it turns out he was just joking. I fell for it, and was wishing the whole thing had just faded back into distant memory. I'm such a dork!  :-\

Well..i knew that dik-diks hid in bushes...
Where else would a dik hide but in a bush...???

By the way...sad news...K's sea monkeys died yesterday... :'(  ..tragic i know...she fed them fish food and they didn't like it...nut allergy or some such thing, anaphalactic shock?...i was going to do an autopsy to see if i could fathom out the cause of this monumentous mishap [accident/foul play/murder]...unfortunately M chucked them down the sink...so we will never know....
