Dictionaries
« on: March 14, 2013, 02:01:27 AM »
I got this interesting article from the Chronicle of Higher Education on my daily Library Link: about dictionaries in this digital world.  So few of my friends really care about such subjects that I had to share it with some who would!

Great article!  We were indeed just talking about this.  Thanks for sharing.

(As a curmudgeon, I could bemoan the fact that so many of the top most frequently looked-up words are unknown when they shouldn't be, but I'll just celebrate the fact that people are looking them up at all!  Way to crave a better vocabulary, people!)

Sorry, ensiform, but I'm with you on this one.

I too was surprised at some of the words that people were looking up, but even so it's good to know that dictionaries are still being used!

Watch out, everyone - pigs are flying, hell is freezing over!!
Pat and Enisform are in agreement - is this perchance a miracle to greet the new Pope??  ;D ;D

On the subject of the new Pope I do wonder (as a non Roman Catholic) why they didn't pick someone a little younger?  Don't even know why that suddenly popped into my head.
I did find the article interesting as well.

As a Roman Catholic, I also wonder why they don't pick younger Popes.  Perhaps true goodness and wisdom only comes with old age .... not something I would know about just yet!

More white than grey in my case, unfortunately.
