NEW: Chihuahua Fall-back Site
« on: November 09, 2012, 12:23:45 PM »
From now on, if you're having troubles using the Chihuahua Web page, there's another address you can try: www.chipuzzle.com.

The new site is designed to look and function just like the original Chi site, but it is run using a different hosting service, in a different city. So quite a few of the occurrences that have caused problems in the past will be very unlikely to affect both of the Chihuahua sites at the same time.

The scores and other data on the two sites are kept in sync, so whichever one you have been playing on, your words and scores should normally be present on both. If one of the sites is not working for a while, it should be brought up to date soon after it comes back online.

I'd appreciate people trying out the new site. If you want to try comparing the two sites running simultaneously in different tabs, or different browsers, just remember to make sure that each site has submitted all its words - by clicking on the Refresh button at the top of the scoreboard for example. If there are no problems over the next few days I'll put the two addresses on both websites.

Any time the puzzle refuses to load properly would obviously be a good time to try switching to the other address. But even if you're able to play a puzzle, if the scoreboard on a daily puzzle remians blank, or hasn't been updated for a long time, it might be worth switching.

This innovation will certainly not eliminate all problems, but I hope it will mean we are less at the mercy of events outside my control.

Found the site very easily with Google; had to sign in, of course, but it seems to work very well. identical to its 'twin brother'. Trouble is, :D I can't think of any new words to play on any of the three games, so i can't test the scoreboard facility.

It is working fine for me Alan. Had both open in seperate tabs and updating between the two worked without any issues.
Shame my brain isn't performing as well today.
