Sound Effects in Chihuahua
« on: March 01, 2007, 03:41:38 PM »
It seems that most Chihuahua players have the Sound option turned off. I wonder why that is:

  • You hate sound effects in games
  • You tried the sounds in Chihuahua and didn't like them
  • You tried the sounds in Chihuahua and they didn't work
  • You never noticed there was a "Sound" button

If the 2nd or 3rd reason applies to you, and it was a few months ago that you tried the sound option, it might be worth trying again. When the game was upgraded in December to allow player registration, the sound handling was revamped so that it should work for more people. And we replaced some of the most frequently-heard sound effects with some new, subtler ones.

I'd be interested to read any comments or details about problems you may have encountered.

If I'm at work, then the sound is turned off as a courtesy to my colleagues.

At home, I usually have the speakers on my computer turned off as well - would rather listen to a CD. So no, I have never turned the sound on the page off - no need, the speakers are already disconnected  :)

I like the sound effects - especially the 'whooshing' when a word is accepted!  :)  Not so keen to hear the noise that means my word is invalid and my score is going to go down!    :(

I tried the sound on again, but turned it off quickly.  I usually listen to the radio, and just don't like competing sounds.  It's great that we have an option that caters for everyone!

I never have sound effects on, whether it's this game or any other site. I find it too distracting  :)
