Interesting. Curious as to how the turkey got to Australia, I looked at the Wikipedia article on turkeys and see they are not closely related at all. But it sure looks like the turkey we have here in N. America!

Perhaps because you eat them at thanksgiving, Birdy? Bit ironic really.

It surely would be more appropriate if they were shown slimmed down to offer a smaller target and running like crazy rather than puffed up strutting their stuff.
