Microsite
« on: May 18, 2007, 01:56:49 AM »
I was rather disappointed today to find that of the 3 nine letter words (none of which I have found yet ... but still working) Microsite wasn't one of them.  I found several references to ... and not all of them are computer related Alan ... I know how you feel aobut that  :-R

Dean, I don't have anything against computer-related words as such. I'm just wary of words that are only listed in dictionaries of computer terminology. But if a computer-related word has made it into at least one general dictionary, then it's a strong candidate for admission, just like words from many other specialist domains.

I don't think I'd ever heard of "microsite", but it's listed in a couple of dictionaries that I could see, with both an Internet meaning and an ecology meaning, so it'll go into the list.

(For what it's worth. At present, nine-letter words are not reused in the daily puzzles, but if Chihuahua continues long enough, that policy will have to be relaxed, so maybe one day there'll be a puzzle with four nine-letter words, and "microsite" will be one of them.)

Alan......do you have any time left over for ordinary things such as sleeping and eating? You appear to spend your life ferreting out obscure words that we forumites come up with and offer hopefully to you on a platter.  Oh, the burden of being a GAGLE!

.<  There I am, see?

Good point, Dot. I'd better get down to the shops while it's not raining.  See you.
