LADDIES.....

We have ladies......we have laddy......so why not laddies....???

I've never seen it spelt 'laddy', always laddie.

Maybe this 'ie' ending is a Scottish thing. Consider 'caddy' and 'caddie'. In any case, the plurals of words ending in 'y' are immutably enshrined in the law I was told aged 7 years "Change the 'y' into 'i' and add 'es'. ;D

The issue is the same as with lefties, that was recently discussed. However, in this case the facts are very different: the variant laddy is so rarely used that it's not even a rare word in Chi. So laddies has to be regarded as the plural of laddie, and hence not accepted.
