Looking at the above link, one sees that researching a phrase is rather a difficult academic task. The BBC programme looked at phrases and even single words to see when and how they first appeared in language.

Maybe this is not too different from Alan's task on deciding whether a word is common or rare. Alan's task is probably more difficult in that his decision affects our performance on Chi etc although in the final analysis it is all good fun.Don't forget of course there are also the different cultures to contend with.

So, "We who are about to Chi salute him!"
