Word-pox
« on: May 07, 2007, 11:17:10 PM »
Greetings all!
I've been playing for a while but it took me months to figure out how to post here.
Am I the only conflicted Chihuahua player on the board? You all seem content to be spending hours--perhaps only minutes for some--with letters flying around inside your heads--when a part of me feels that more constructive things ought to be going on in my head, at least.  (The other part is very happy not to be making any further efforts at creativity or engagement with the world or earning a living.)

Also, although I love the new format with the little rosettes for finding all the "common" (ha bloody ha) words--(nong? give a break!)--this  entails a further mild torture when one simply cannot find the last elusive word or two--or three, today.

What oh what can they be? I have shuffled and shuffled until my index finger is sore. I will fix myovertaxed brain on the letters as I ride the train to the dentist.  I can cut the agony short by looking at the solution--or worse, and a sign of utter moral corruption, by  going to a word unscrambler--but then I will know that I could have tried harder, that I was a quitter.

The name I hereby give to this affliction is word-pox.

Welcome, Mancklin. I notice that you did make new word suggestions in the past, so you are quite a capable player.

Why was it hard for you to get into the posts? I'm wondering how many other players have had the same problem.

As for conflict, I'm sure that to some degree, we are ALL conflicted about being here, yet, in the big scheme of things, it's really better than robbing banks, and I don't know how many of us have a cure for cancer or the Next Big Thing at the tip of our tongues.

It's also a compelling website because Alan really works hard to improve the game for our enjoyment, and actually interacts with the players. That's a refreshing note compared to others where there's just you and your game.

Cheers, and feel free to keep posting.

Wel B-B-B, if I may be so bold--
I do hope my whingeing little post didn't come across as ungrateful to the creator of the puzzle, which I obviously find totally compelling; moreover, the fact that one can glean  information about other players in these posts is quite delightful. No, if it wasn't so much fun, and getting funner all the time, there would be no conflict.

As for the posting difficulty--I don't know, I guess I didn't try very hard. You have to look quite hard for the "New topic" button. When I finally decided to post I went to the help button and found out how to do it. I mean it's not an orange flashing button with silhouettes of people taking off their clothes or anything like that.

I am getting sadder...[more frustrated]  by the day.....
A BIG welcome from me too...now you have found us hopefully we will hear from often.

Oh Technomc I knew someone would understand.
See here are my poor whippets, whining to be taken out; the ferret hasn't been cleaned out in days and as for the hermit crab--luckily the little flies that come out of its aquarium get eaten by the iguana, which more or less takes care of itself.

Welcome back T ! You've been much missed. Don't believe a word she says, Mancklin.....Technomc is an amalgam of Marilyn Monroe, Jennifer Lopez and Kate Moss on a good day. Add to that the brains of Stephen Hawking, Bertrand Russell and Albert Einstein (Oh....they're all men....bother)  and you may get some idea of who you're dealing with. (With whom you are dealing, sorry.....mustn't let standards slip just because it's a free-for-all forum)  I have to go now....I can't get into my laundry because of the piles of dirty laundry; there may well be a herd of wandering wildebeest in the back garden although you can't see through the head-high grass; I've run out of clean crockery altogether, and I don't think any of the little fur-bearing objects in the fridge are edible. Chihuahua addictive ? Never!   :D

Dear T:
I know all too well where you are coming from. How could you possibly understand me so thoroughly? I feel there must be a deep bond between us.
And Binkie, I appreciate the picture of domestic disarray you draw so admirably.  But there is a real issue here for a middle of the pack player such as myself. You may have allowed certain aspects of your lives to fall into disrepair, but you have done it in the pursuit of excellence. I, on the other hand, am doing it in the pursuit of mere mediocrity. How dispiriting. Not a clean pair of socks in the house, and still I'm two short of a rosette. Evidently "Mancklin," an old family name attached to several luckless souls through the generations, all of whom died young and in unfortunate circumstances, carries its karma along with it.
Farewell for now, not yet forever.

Well Hello Binks and Manck,
[See how familiar we already are?]
Thanks for the accolade Binks...you can be my bestest ever friend ever....and  one day i may try to see if i can get out of my lounge [because of my now very swollen head] to attempt a normal life...[whatever that means...]the world isn't big enough for me and my new found ego...  :-\  actually i think threeb is taking over big time..but at least LMSP and the other 1 are getting a thorough thrashing....YeeeeeHaaaaaa!!!!!
And Mancks...well what can i tell you...intracyber soul mates....how very gratifying to know there is another body out there somewhere who empathises totally.... :-L
You may have noticed if you have been reading previous posts that actually all us girls have built up a great rapport...and we are all fairly like minded, it's brilliant, and you will be welcomed into the fold just as we all have been.... hopefully more will follow...
It was only a few weeks ago that threeb was saying that she couldn't get to the top...look at her now...you will gradually , and with percyverance, get there too...do not dismay my friend...we all start at the bottom and work our way up....[oh dear...here i go again with smutty thoughts..]
Well, i need to look for a few more words,
Regards to all,
;)
P.S. It's nice to be back Binks, i missed you all, and i had a fab time ta.

I might have known you'd think of that, T !  It didn't cross my pure-as-driven- snow mind. Probably because I have problems remembering which letters come after LMNO........ :D  Hmmm,   :: maybe we should forget the whole thing, since there will no doubt be some sort of filthy connotations whatever we do!!!   ::)

Tell your Mancksy mummy from me;
'frusteratered' is my middle name...get a grip of it and move on....she will get used to it...promise... [a regular supply of batteries helps to surpress it..a bit..]
Have a lovely day....eat your fruit and vegetable and don't be cheeky to the teachers..and don't talk to strangers...
