Hi Alan
isnt 'copt' a word - as in some one of the coptic religion? Have certainly heard it in usage

Most likely the answer will be "no" because it's a proper noun, and generally those are not acceptable here.

As noted, words written with a capital letter are not allowed. However, the waters can get muddied when a word has a second meaning. Sometimes it seems that a proper name is accepted: for example, celt in the same puzzle. But a celt can also be a "common prehistoric tool of stone or metal, shaped like a chisel or ax head", according to the American Heritage Dictionary. So that's why celt is allowed and copt is not.
