Yes, as I've told my boys often, we all swear never to make the same mistakes our parents made and, to a degree, manage, however, we find a brand new crop of out own.  Pat, you are great!

Very sad for you, Pat.  I have a wonderful, loving mother who is 76 but extremely youthful in her attitude and in her looks.  My father died a few years ago and was my hero ... a very kind and gentle man who is totally irreplaceable.

Linda, that could have been my parents you are writing about!!! Except my Mum is 73.

Oh, Pat - although I feel very sorry for you, your post has made me realise just how lucky I've been, and still am, to have loving, supportive and enthusiastic parents. No matter what we were interested in, or wanted to do, Mum and Dad were always willing to throw themselves into it.
This forum certainly gives us an insight into other people's lives, doesn't it ?
