I have words.

Before the election, all the pundits said it would be a close result.

I was feeling hopeful that Ms Harris would be elected.

America, how could you do this, again?

I have grave fears for the people of Ukraine.

I have grave fears that he will simply refuse, somehow, to hold another election when his four years are up.

Could not disagree more. This is a win for democracy. ("Democrat" is not necessarily synonymous with democracy) The majority of the people voted for Trump despite the huge, obscene amounts of money that the Democrats threw at the campaign. The mainstream media overwhelmingly backed Harris whilst continuously demonising Trump. Democrats pulled out celebrity after celebrity thinking the people were dumb enough to fall such vacuousness. Harris fought on NOT TRUMP; she espoused no real policies, she spoke gobblygook, she was a terrible VP in a terrible administration that allowed millions of illegal migrants (yes, you can be sure, many of whom were criminals) free passage into the country.... One could go on and on. Her own party didn't even want her as a candidate at the primaries. Insultingly, to her, to women, to women of 'colour', (to all Americans) she was chosen by Biden to be her VP, precisely because she is those things, not because she was the best candidate - and time and events has proven that to be so true!

Based on what the orange one said about being a dictator, I find it difficult to see this as a 'win for democracy'. Regardless, it is clearly 'Dreadful news for planet Earth'.

Tom, I know from your previous forum posts that you're Christian, so perhaps you can explain this to me:  I'm astounded that so many people of faith, especially evangelical Christians, support Trump when he is so obviously dishonest and lacking in morals.  Surely he embodies qualities that people of faith would find abhorrent.  I just don't get it.

Maybe it's because Tom remembers John 8:1-11????

I agree with Tom in his analysis. I don't like Trump the man, and he has said some truly cringeworthy things in public. He often seem to speak before he has put his brain into gear. However, I believe despite his faults, he has a solid plan for where he thinks the USA should be heading. The people have chosen, as should happen in a democracy. Now let's move on on and let the Republicans get on with the job.

If this is a ‘win for democracy,’ it does nothing for the reputation of American voters. I’d want to emigrate, too. And of course, it doesn’t only affect the US - truly dreadful news for planet Earth.
Trump is not a man who should be anywhere near public office. I am baffled why anyone would vote for him as their leader.

Obviously not one of Donald Trump's favourite biblical passages.

In response to Morbius, if we chose politicians solely on their morals those choices would be severely limited. Your right M, I am a Christian and there is much about Trump to deplore, but I look at his policies not at just his character (in such a decision and, of course, being Australian my decision is irrelevant). One could seriously question the incumbent President's character, too. And Kamala Harris has shown herself a liar.
The point is, as a Christian, I believe that Trump stands for many of the issues I believe (and most Christians, I'm sure) are supremely important. Much of what Democrats stand for are woke ideologies and that chasm of Woke v Conservatism, particularly Christian conservatism, is getting ever wider. I do not believe that the Saviour of the world (or America, for that matter) will arrive on Air Force 1, but I do believe that God uses people for His purposes. Doesn't mean that individual is squeaky clean and beyond fault - no such person exists - but in God's economy they prove most useful. Just think, do we imagine that all surgeons who have saved countless lives must have private or secret lives that are gilded just like their skills? That would be naive!
Americans have spoken, let's watch this space...
No, Wibblybits, nothing to do with John 8.
