The puzzle has an A, an E, an I, an O, and a U.

How many seed words have all five main vowels?

And the seed word was the very last common word that I found!

The five 9-Letter words I had in mind were inoculate, education, cautioned, facetious, and auctioned.

Surprisingly perhaps, a 7-by-many puzzle with all five vowels is possible: ATTENUATION. Another theoretical 7-by-many seed word is SEQUOIA, but those letters allow too few words to actually be chosen for a daily puzzle.
