I remember when I couldn't sit down on the bus because of the length of my skirt...  Now the only reason I can't sit down on the bus is that there are no seats.

I prefer to think of myself as marching to a different rhythm section.

that sounds very good to me - count me in - it will only take me a few hours to get there.  And the next day everyone could come visit me, and do something about my apartment.  And I could introduce everyone to my pet dust bunnies!

I always say for someone who hates exercise, I'm not in such bad shape.  I refer to my five flights as my free Stair Master.

Actually, I try to think positively: "Wow! all that exercise!  I can have a cookie!  Oh, wait - I would have to go downstairs again to the store.  Well, then, I can diet!"  And since I did lose a pound yesterday, and am now within 10 pounds of the goal weight I've been trying to get to for the last 3 years, after months on the same plateau, it was all worth while.

And sometimes I even believe this nonsense I'm telling myself!   ;D

hi - did my laundry yesterday which involved a bit of hiking - down 5 flights, then a couple of blocks walk with my Santa Claus sack of dirty clothes.  I was trying to multitask, so I went 4 blocks back to my bank to take out some money while the things were washing.  However, the cop standing in front of the door said I'd have to come back later - it turned out there had been a bank robbery.  So I went across the street to my doctor's office to pick up the prescriptions he'd rewritten (same pills, but depending on the way he wrote them it made a difference of $240 for the year - ain't medical/drug plans marvelous?) and get the results of a test I took a week ago.  Not that I'm medically astute or anything, but even I can see when the result shows that one of the tests was cancelled because "no specimen rec'd".  Lab too busy to straighten that out, so I hiked the 4 blocks back to the laundry and put the stuff in the dryer.  Headed back to the lab - another 4 blocks - after much discussion, they called the lab where the work was actually done, and where they couldn't find the blood sample I'd contributed.  So it was decided that I'd have to deliver myself to the vampires all over again - but I told them I had to go back to the laundry first so my clothes wouldn't end up on the floor.  Back 4 blocks to the laundry - brought the folded stuff back to my building (but not up the stairs) and back to the lab.  They bled me, and I left for the bank.  Luckily the robber hadn't got all the money, so the ATM in the lobby gave me enough to go on - the bank itself was still closed.  Including the walk to meet a friend for lunch before doing the laundry, it was over 20 blocks of walking yesterday, so I decided to quit for the day.  Up my stairs with laundry - hung up all the damp stuff and decided it was time to play Chihuahua.

Chihuahua was more fun than my day before that, even if I do keep missing a lot of easy words.  When I finally gave up, I played FreeRice.  I'm pretty good at guessing words, so I hung out at 50 for a short while, dipping up and down to the high 40s.  I figure if I switch to FreeRice when I'm frustrated with Chihuahua, I can justify my obsession with words:  "I'm doing my charity work!"

I almost went online late last night - after I closed the computer, I started reading a book, which I finished at 3:30 a.m. EST - I figured some people on the other side of the world would be up.  But I realized that I would then stay up for another hour or so, and I knew I had to get up to walk a friend to her doctor appt today.

I did sleep a little later today, got up in time to walk the friend to the doctor's office and have lunch, and came back to open the computer.  I still have 16/34 common words to find...

Sorry - I'm techly illiterate.  If it's not something obvious, I'm in trouble.

I might also take a nail file to the balls and see if I could scratch paint off one.

Okay, not sure if it would work, but I'd put the two balls in a bowl of water.   Eureka! and all that.

You might have been able to stretch that glass of wine - is anyone that abstemious? - and have 1/4 glass left.

Congratulations on winning the pie-eating contest, Linda!  It truly is difficult.  I'm not surprised that you haven't been able to duplicate the feat yet - but you probably could if you kept at it long enough.  I might be able to repeat it every 15 tries or so.  Thank goodness there are no calories in that virtual pie!

It might say something about my friends and relatives that they would even think to compare postcards...

...or maybe about me that I would suspect that they would compare them.

Just a thought about the myth itself - do the sooty smudges on his back explain the markings on the moon?

It might be interesting to hear this from the brother's point - we never heard Amnon's point of view, did we?  But I think most women will not accept his excuses.

My much-travelled aunt used the label method.  I tried it a couple of times, but then moved to a different system.  I list everyone, their addresses and sometimes their email and phone numbers on a sheet of paper.  It's in columns, in tiny print, done on the computer and easily revisable, and until now, all fit on one side of the paper.  One sheet of paper weighs even less than the labels.  Another advantage was that when I wrote a card, I noted on the sheet of paper the date and view I'd sent, so I didn't send the same postcard to two people who lived near each other and might compare notes.  There is a place for compulsiveness in this world!
