Words / DRUTHERS in yesterday’s UNDERSHIRT ten letter game
« on: January 20, 2023, 08:45:27 PM »
I missed DRUTHERS. Now I’ve seen the solution I would say I’ve vaguely heard of the word, but should it be classed as a common word? Played by 20 from 266 it wouldn’t seem so with Chihuahua players anyway. Could you please review the status of this word Alan? Thanks

Words / PLAINSONG in Friday Jan 6 Standard puzzle
« on: January 07, 2023, 11:13:57 AM »
It’s been a while since I couldn’t get the main word but I’ve never heard of PLAINSONG. Anyway as usual, Chihuahua helps my vocabulary grow. I can’t help but wonder if it’s a common word, of course just because I don’t know it doesn’t mean it’s not, but what do others think?

Words / THRUWAY in yesterday’s ten letter WRATHFULLY game
« on: January 04, 2023, 10:24:12 PM »
Is this an American word? In Australia it would be THROUGHWAY I imagine.
Ensuite is not allowed cause it’s restricted to Australia so why should THRUWAY be common? I know they’re probably not connected but hopefully you see where I’m coming from.
In any case, Alan I ask you to review THRUWAY as a common word. At least it’s not down under.

Words / Variegate in the ten letter VARIEGATED puzzle
« on: December 29, 2022, 07:09:34 PM »
I cannot believe how long I just spent looking for the last common word and it finally dawned on me that I’d played VARIEGATED but not variegate! It was like when I played STONED and not Stone in a game a while ago amd I complained on the forum how stupid I was, and Roddles very wittily remarked something to the effect that if I was going to play stoned then things like this will happen!
At least I realised this time before the game closed.

Whatever / RODDLES in Yesterday’s UNDERSOLD game
« on: December 27, 2022, 01:31:42 PM »
The only word I kept seeing was RODDLES! How funny.

Whatever / Merry Christmas everyone
« on: December 25, 2022, 08:36:25 AM »
Feliz Navidad all of you and hope you have a safe and happy festive season! Prawns and ham here in the capital of Australia and a cold chook for a backup if needed. Meringues, mangoes, plum pudding and crème anglaise and lots of champagne and already played a few hands of euchre which can turn a peaceful family gathering into something else!

Words / Theatric in the STARCHIEST ten letter puzzle
« on: December 22, 2022, 07:31:17 PM »
I was surprised that THEATRIC was not a common word. So then I tried it with an S for THEATRICS but this was not allowed. I understand that probably theatrical is used more often but I definitely thought theatric would be close behind. What do you think Alan or are you happy to leave it as is?

Words / Chaperon in yesterday’s CHAPERONE Challenge game
« on: November 26, 2022, 10:27:07 AM »
Here I go again- having a bad trot with LWS (last word syndrome) and failing to achieve a rosette and this time Chaperon without an E was my downfall. And many others I suspect with only six rosettes in total. I was surprised that 42 people found CHAPERON from 317 players.
In any case Alan, I’d like to ask that this be changed to rare because I’ve never seen it spelt that way unless there’s something I don’t know (which I’m sure is the case!) Thank you.

Words / Burdock in yesterday’s BACKGROUND ten letter game
« on: November 23, 2022, 10:10:05 AM »
Apparently a common word, played by ten percent of players, 28 from 286, and it’s a thistle.
For the sake of consistency, could this word be reclassified from common to rare. Thanks

Words / Illumine in yesterdays ten letter Illuminate game
« on: November 16, 2022, 10:05:16 PM »
I know I may well be in the minority however I’ve never heard of illumine. It was a common word played by 26 of 270 players. And I know that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not a well-known word but given the ten letter word was illuminate, it would stand to reason that if you know of the word it wouldn’t be hard to find.
Anyone else think it is a common word? I’d like to ask you Alan to change it to rare please.

Word Games / Chinchilla?
« on: November 15, 2022, 07:54:34 AM »
This has probably been discussed and I’ve missed it, why does the ten letter game have Chinchilla in the background and the others say Chihuahua?

Whatever / T-Rex - are you ok?
« on: November 06, 2022, 07:18:21 AM »
I don’t read all the posts so if I’ve missed something re T-Rex’s absence please forgive me. Just hoping you’re ok - I’ve haven’t seen your name the last few days in each game I play.

Words / Anarchic in the ten letter SACCHARINE game
« on: October 14, 2022, 08:41:18 PM »
Missed this supposed common word. Played ANARCHIES but it was rare.
I’d like to suggest that ANARCHIC be reclassified to rare as only 41 from 286 played it. Never ever heard of it.

The Daily Quest / Yesterday's ten letter OUTCLASSED game
« on: August 18, 2022, 08:29:53 PM »
So I missed DUCTLESS and CASTLED. I truly find it amazing that either would be classed as common. It’s not just sour grapes, it’s more that I can’t imagine using them in day to day life and indeed unless Ductless is some sort of commonly used technical term known the world over, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of either of them. Maybe a ductless vacuum system, but no, on reflection, it’s called a ducted system.
So I would like Alan to please reassess their status. Thank you.

The Daily Quest / Ibex in yesterdays EXCITABLE challenge game
« on: August 17, 2022, 08:08:56 AM »
Why did it take me so long to see IBEX? I love games that feature an x (v, w and f are also favourites). It took me hours of shuffling for it to be seen by my eyes. More games with an x would be great!
