I'd consider it well known in Australia as would be 'undergrad'

Thank you. I stand corrected...

I was very surprised that "easter" was classified as a rare word in yesterday's 10 letter SEAMSTRESS puzzle, while ester was common.

I think all English speakers pronounce cello as chello but Spanish is supposed to be phonetic but say violincello as chelo.

Alan W,

"When I play, I don't use lists or computerised aids, but I play with a partner, which some people might consider is a form of cheating - two against one!"

I am  wondering how the words are drawn then. I thought you must pick them and then code them so they appear at the appropriate time, but if you still play, wouldn't you know the words coming up? I am still in awe of Chi, and I look after 5 websites myself.

It's interesting to watch the score of the consistently high scorers. I once started a game on the hour it became available. At about 01, I was at the same score, by 07, I had got about 20 and the high scorer was over 100. I can't type that fast!

Entiendo que muy es mejor pero la 'thread' es sobre 'mucho'.

Y por la mayor parte, los forumistas no entienden castellano.

¡Estoy MUCHO feliz porque hoy tengo una rosita!

The Mexicans lost many states to the USA in wars, they are now taking them back person by person.

If I remember from my days in America Central, a quetzal was also the monetary unit of Guatemala. No doubt with Latino inflation they may have had half a dozen new ones since then.

I also have fond memories of Cost Rica, the only country in the Americas where the police did not wear guns!

As a southerner in Oz, I have never heard 'cameltoe' and will have to look it up to see what the common 4 letter synonym is.

I'm particularly interested in those with whom we are playing whose first language is not English, and do not live in an English speaking country.

Ich glaube Hannes44 ist Österreicher,
et Hano Nihm - Olivier est Français.

¿Pero no hay hablantes de Español?

And as for 'Buggar', I would think we use it for something that's worse than 'Bugger'. More emphasis on the last syllable.

Quite quixotic to aim for Alfonso & Alonso's scores!

I'd classify arv as rare, but arvo as common! Arv may be Queenslandish.

TRex, here in Oz a cowcatcher would have never pushed a buffalo off the tracks. We are still talking about a train line from Alice Springs to Darwin, and have been for all my lifetime, which is the only area where it may push a water buffalo off the tracks.

But I did like one of the 51,200 google images - a cartoon which said, "I prefer to call it a cow exploder rather than a cowcatcher".
