Soon be home time thank heavens.  Hopefully I'll do better tomorrow.

Hi Pen,

Different Folks, Different Strokes.  I used to look forward to getting to work.  Even in those few times when the work was boring or unpleasant or the bosses were a pain, there was always great people to work with.

My rebus yesterday was about a railway in East Sussex.  Today it is about a train in Australia, its name, its terminuses and an interesting station along the way.

Terminus (7)
Component 1 (4). Picture 1 (4 6). Replace first letter of first word with “L”.
      Component 2 (3). Picture 2 (4). Discard last letter.

Interesting Station ( 8 )
      Component 1 (5).  Picture 3 (6). Replace one “T” with a “K”. Discard one “T”.
      Component  2.(3).  Picture 4 (6 2 8 14).Tertiary degree. Use Abbreviation.

Terminus ( 6 7).
Component 1.  Picture 5 (3 5).  Use homophone of full first name.
      Component 2 ( 7).
          Subcomponent 1 (4).  Picture 6 (5).  Make homophone.
          Subcomponent 2 (3). Picture 7 (5).  Discard first 2 letters.

Name (3 4).
     Component 1. (3). Picture 8.
     Component  2. (4). Picture 9.

It is complimented by another service.  Can you guess the name of that train?

I watched the first episode of Whitstable Pearl last night.  I enjoyed it but I preferred Darby and Joan!

an episode...

Hi Pen,

I'd have to agree with you that Darby and Joan is superior,  but having Watched 3 episodes of Pearl, I am warming to it.

Great rebus but which episode - Part 1 or Part 2?

.

My rebus is a television series (and an episode) which I'm going to start watching.  From the trailer I've seen it definitely seems worth a look.
Hi Pen,

Not only was it a good rebus, it was a good tip.  I watched the first episode while I was scoffing my sushi and sushimi for lunch.  It looks like it will be a good series.

While we are on the subject of TV series, the other night when we were watching the Inspector Linley Mysteries, a funny little train like the one above went running past several times. It is a serious train even though time of the complete journey is only approximately 10 minutes.  He solution to the rebus is the name of the two terminuses.

Terminus 1 (7).  Picture 1.
Terminus 2.(7)
     Component 1. (3). Picture 2.
     Component 2. (4).  Picture 3

Happy birthday, O Captain of Lexical Labyrinths! 🎈🎁

May your special day be as spellbinding as a well-crafted palindrome. 🌟✨

As you celebrate another trip around the sun, remember that age is just a byte in the grand algorithm of life. 🎂

So, embrace it like a semicolon at the end of a perfectly punctuated sentence: with style and a hint of mystery. 😉

Please tell ET that none of those places look like mine! :

Hi Pen,

Well-done on solving the rebus with my mistake in it.  Thanks for the heads-up.  I shouldn't have had that extra glass of red before attempting to compose a rebus.  I have now fixed the word count.  While I was at it, I trimmed the post without (I hope) changing the meaning.

You would have twigged that ET's houses weren't photos.  I was trying to be a smart-derriere to show ET can draw pictures.  I asked for a picture of a modest two-story house in Bletchley.  Instead of one, it gave me four which are a collage of bits of a lot of houses.  I hope there are some houses in Bletchley which approximate its efforts.  My logic on two stories was that there was a cupboard under the stairs to be used in thunderstorms.

Many Australian States, including New South Wales, have returned to proper time today.  The only way this affects me is that we get some time critical TV shows at the right time.   For example, we get the 7.30 report at 7.30 and not 6.30.

I’ll sign off now.
I’ll try for a new rebus later in the day.

Forgive me.  I thought I'd introduce a bit of levity.

Hi Pen,

What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

My rebus is an example of an English homophone.

Word 1 (17)
Component 1 (7). Picture 1.  Thanks for noticing this was one short, Pen.
   Component 2 (5). Picture 2. Any one.
Component 3 (5). Picture 3.  Usage - Scotland or Northern England.

Word 2 (7)
   Component 1 (3). Picture 4.
   Component 2 (4). Pronounced as Picture 5 (5).

ET wants to know if any of these look like your place, Pen

Hi again, Pen.

My rebus this time might be one that will be more to your liking.  Again it is the title of a poem. This poem is a playful and intimate dialogue between two characters, capturing the nuances of a flirtatious exchange with a touch of whimsy.

Words 1 & 2 (3 1). Popeye’s first two words I Picture 1.  Reverse
Word 3 (4).  You are only interested in the antennae in Picture 2 (7). Use the first letters.
Word 4 (4). Anagram of Picture 3.
Word 5 (2). Use first letters of Picture 4 (3)

Read the poem and tell us what you think is happening.  :D

The title of your poem was fun to solve but, as you rightly say, the poem is neither happy or uplifting.  I understand that I'm probably a lone voice in the wilderness preferring more cheerful or funny stuff!

Hi Pen,

Two posts ago I spent some time developing a rationale for the proposition that it is a benefit to our long term happiness and self development to occasionally confront quality material that is not cheerful or funny stuff.

After the post had been up for several hours, I revisited it and removed the rationale from the post leaving just ET's happy poem.

I had two reasons for deleting the material.

First, I do not have the right, particularly in this forum, or the expertise, to advise people on how they should pursue their happiness and self-development.

Second, although I believed what I wrote, the rationale was not sufficiently developed or well enough written to persuade anyone, who didn't agree with me, around to my point of view.

Pen, every lone voice in the wilderness has the right to be heard.

I have to be out for the rest of the morning but will try for another post later today.

I headed out for a walk just before lunch and got caught in the rain!

Hi Again, Pen

I’ll start with an apology.  My rebus is the title of a poem which is neither happy or uplifting.  But it has a title that will be fun to construct in a rebus and will be easy to solve. Once solved there should be plenty to say about it. I would be surprised if our poetry connoissers were not very familiar with it. It is in a form I had not heard of until today – a villanelle.  The author didn’t mind a drink.  What’s not to like?  :D

Word 1 (2).  Reverse Picture 1 (4). Surname of Character in "The good Life". Use first letters.
Word 2 (3). Homophone of Picture 2 (4).
Word 3 (2). First letters of Picture 1.
Word 4 (6). Replace the first letters of Picture 3 with “gen”.
Word 5 (4). Discard the first letter of picture 4.
Word 6 (4). Discard the last two letters of the roof in picture 5.
Word 7 (4). Picture 1.
Word 8 (5). Replace first letter with “n”

Andrew is safely home shivering.

You know me I prefer things to be happy and uplifting.
So are you cooking on the barbecue?  or using the air fryer or microwave?

Hi Pen,

I asked ET to give me a happy poem for you and this was its response.

In a meadow bathed in sunlight,
Where the skies are oh so bright,
Butterflies dance with delight,
And everything just feels so right.

The flowers bloom in vibrant hues,
Singing the morning's fresh debut,
Joyful hearts beat strong and true,
In this world, so pure and new.

Laughter echoes, clear and sweet,
As friends and lovers gently meet,
With every joyful step and beat,
Life's symphony is quite the treat.

So here's to days of pure elation,
To love, to life, the celebration,
In every word, a jubilation,
A verse of life's own jubilee creation.

We have never used an air fryer.  I thought they were only good for cooking potato chips.  Does anyone use them for ordinary cooking?

The microwave and barbecue have been used a bit more than usual.

I’ll get this off while I think up a rebus.  In the words of Oates, “I may be some time”

Hi Carol,

I don't know if Tobias got up to any mischief with the Angel but I can assure you unless Angels have different reproductive processes than humans the Angel is not pregnant. ET assures me the angel is Raphel and Raphel is male.
