It was a very clever rebus, Pen, but it needs a bit of editing in the Introduction.

I’ve spent all morning unsuccessfully trying to get the last word in the 7-by-many and I’m knackered.  After a good lunch and a swim,  I might find the motivation to return with a rebus.  It could be injurious to your health to hold your breath while you are waiting. :D

Hi Jack

You'll be pleased to know I've not turned blue in the face!!  I hope you waited for your lunch to go down before you had your swim   We had that drummed into us as kids and were told all the awful things that would happened to us if we swam with a full stomach!!

I've amended the instructions on my previous rebus.

Just a quick and easy puzzle today.  It's an expression I just used to my colleague Jane who's sitting next to me.

#3'1 #4 #5

First name of gent in picture one and the slang expression for picture two.  These two pictures give you the first word and please lob in an apostrophe.  Please change the first letter of picture three.  Picture four is nine letters and you need to lose the first four.  You can use this as an alternative to picture four if it helps

I've been stopping and starting so I do hope this makes some sense and there are no mistakes.  Time for lunch now so that's it for now  :-H

I may get back but please don't hold your breath   >:D

Jack has spotted that I made a bit of a boob sorry!  It should be please change the first letter of picture three.

We watched the first episode and put it into the category of "We will only watch it if desperate".   If you can tell me it improves, we might give it another chance.

It would be good if more of them would join in the conversation with us or between themselves on a regular basis.  However, we get enough positive feedback to warrant us keeping our public conversation going for the time being. [/color].

My rebus is a 1938 film.

Hi Jack

Greetings from a very chilly Milton Keynes hospital! Not quite so hectic today.

I can understand why you have reservations about Beyond Paradise.  I enjoy it.  I love Humphrey and it's filmed in Looe in Cornwall so I love the scenery but the plots are a little thin.  It's what I call not too much effort required!

I love it when the others put in their two penn'orth and it would be brilliant if folks joined in a little more.  The positive feedback we get definitely make it worthwhile  :)

I did enjoy your clever rebus.  It took me a few attempts to get on top of it!

My offering today is a trilogy of books from the 18th century and also a telly series.

Please change the first letter of picture one.  Please use the first two letters of the Canadian city in picture three and change the first letter of picture four.  You need the surname of the gent in picture.  He doesn't normally have a beard so I picked this picture to try and make it a bit trickier   Please pretend it's all on one line.

Almost home time hooray

I should pick one you could go on.  In fact, you may already have done so.

It is approximately 3.3 kilometres (around 2 miles) and you should do it in about 40 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace.  I don’t think it has a formal name and is just known by its beginning and end places.

Sorry Jack I forgot to say that I haven't done the walk you recommended or visited that area for many years.  The countryside is lovely and I think the walk would be very enjoyable.

Five minutes til home time hurrah  :)

I forgot that your mob over there go along to the footy to have a sing along and behave like Hooligans while our mob go along to have a few beers and shout " avago yuh mug".

I rarely watch the golf these days and wouldn't have this morning until you reminded me the Masters was on, so I watched the last hour of it.  We haven't played golf for nearly four years and I got disgusted when a lot of the ones I barracked for joined the LIV golf mob.  The only golf that excites me these days is the Ryder Cup and it might surprise you to know I become very European.

We've finished the Inspector Linley Mysteries and are now onto Dalgleish.  Linley turned into a real pig, but I was a great fan of Havers.  We are into the second series of Whitstable Pearl .  It is annoying but not bad enough to abandon it just yet.

Finally, I came up with the age-old question: Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the nuts?

I realised my post might a bit rough for the sensitive souls who follow our conversations and so I asked ET to edit it so it had a touch of class. so here is my edited post.

Hi Jack

I loved your post - made me howl with laughter and cheered up a very busy and windy Monday     I hope you do some more deep thinking very soon  ;)

I am a numpty and consulted Ms Google about 'avago yuh mug'.  I then said it out loud   :-R

I don't watch much golf these days either.  Partly because it's mostly on Sky which I don't subscribe to and partly because there seem to be few characters in the game now. After coming at the bottom of the leader board I think Tiger Woods needs to retire.  Like you I'm excited by the Ryder Cup,  It doesn't surprise me in the remotest  that you become all European  :)

I'm on the first series of Whitstable Pearl and the jury's still out.   I am still enjoying Beyond Paradise but there are only a couple of episodes left in the series.  I've probably mentioned it before but have you watched Murder in Provence with Inspector Fred Thursday from Endeavour?  or Signora Volpe?  As you may have noticed in another thread Linda & I were very disappointed with the new Midsomer last night.

Have we got many sensitive souls who tune into our conversations?   >:D  ET's poshed up version of your post is very funny and should suit the easily offended

Nearly home time thank heavens.  Hope I don't get blown away in my little car driving home.  It's really howling a gale here!

Needless to say Linda I'm in total agreement with you!!  Very disappointing  :(  I'd rather watch a repeat of an old one with Tom than these new ones.  My pink plonk was cool and drinkable.

You'll soon be a lady wot lunches  >:D   Enjoy  :)

But you wouldn't have it any other way Christine!  They're all characters! If I pop into M&S on a Thursday morning there's usually a man waiting in the lobby with a gorgeous little cocker.  The chap always says to everyone that passes "meet & greet!" as the dog tries to befriend everyone who walks past.  :)

I thought you weren't giving the suckers an even break.

Well Moyra probably did not have to struggle with your last rebus even though your picture 5 could have 11 letters you could substitute to make legitimate words.  I was also struggling identifying the base of picture 4 with the owls.  With picture 3, I was trying to identify the action.

Hi Jack

I'm so sorry.  I'll be more thoughtful with my hints in future.  I was going to use Daphne from Frasier for picture four of my last puzzle but thought that was too obvious :-R  I should have mentioned the Owl and the Pussycat and that might have helped.  I have no excuse for the fifth picture other than I loved the fact that the kitten was trying to beat up the dog and failing miserably and the dog just gently batted it away.  It wasn't much of a punch up though sorry  :(

My rebus today is a song which is sung by the crowd at a London Football Club.

Please use the surname of the gent in picture one and change the first letter to one near the end of the alphabet.

#1'1 7 (#3 + #4) #7 #7

'
You need Judy Dench's character in picture two.  Please use the formal title of Rowan Atkinson's character* in picture four (8 letters) and use four consecutive letters please.  Present tense for picture five and move the fourth letter back a couple of places.  Picture six is a famous telescope.  Please change the first letter to one near the beginning of the alphabet and bung an s on the end.  Two homophones and please pretend it's all on one line.

*I watched the film Keeping Mum a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it  :)

Do you ever wonder...
Why no one is ever just right amount of whelmed?

This is really daft but it tickled me  ;D

Just spotted your post.  Will finish this and have a proper look  :)

I picked this because I thought the choccy cake with the strawberries on top looked rather good  >:D

It sounds like you have a perfect day planned  :)

I'll raise a glass of pink plonk to you later while we're watching Inspector Barnaby.  If only it was still Tom!!  But beggars can't be choosers!

I'm going out for a walk in the sun before it disappears.  Met Office says cloudy here this afternoon  :(

Have a smashing day Linda  :)

Mountain Goat Tours still exist and are seen around the Lakes most times we venture out. I think it is a popular way to get around. Currently there are offers on bus ticket prices too which are a great way to get to Keswick and Grasmere etc  from Kendal (or anywhere on that route) and as they are capped at only £2 they don't break the bank. I think there are other routes around the area too . Christine

Thanks Christine that's great and worth knowing  :)

If their experience is like that of some my mates that have had their cataracts fixed, they will be delighted with the result.  Give them my best wishes when you next see them.

It was a good rebus but I'll make a bet that you won't have seen the picture because I know sci-fi horror is not quite your cup of tea.

Hi Jack

Yet another lovely Spring day.  Going to be a shock when the weather goes back to normal in the next day or two.

I had a message from Barbs a little while ago to say they were both fine today and they were enjoying a coffee sitting in the garden.  I passed on your best wishes and they were chuffed  :)

How well you know me   Your money's quite safe as I definitely wouldn't watch that film in a million years!!

My rebus today is a film released when I was about a year old.

You need the first name of the gent in picture one and please lose the first letter. Picture two how are the Police force known? Please lose the first three letters of picture three.  Any one of picture four and substitute the first two letters with one different letter.  Please change the first letter of picture five and it's all on one line.

That's all from me.  The kettle's calling...

Ciao Linda.  I can never get my head round that being hello and goodbye

Has the Mountain Goat bus gone?  :(  I tried Kendal Mint cake once.  Not an experience I ever want to repeat!  I do love gingerbread though.

I envy you your trip to Bologna.  Lovely grub and great wine  :)   I wish I got bored on a plane rather than scared witless.  Zoe has problems with her ears when flying.  A few years ago she did a parachute jump for charity.  When she jumped out of the plane she said the pain in her ears was excruciating.  You drop really quickly for a little while before the chute opens and the change in pressure plays havoc with your ears apparently.

I really ought to see about getting some time off work so I can return to the Lakes and meet you for a cuppa  :)

We have a treat tomorrow night.  A new Midsomer  :)

That sounds wonderful Christine.  I would love to visit the Lakes.  I'm not brave enough to attempt the drive but I can easily get from MK to Oxenholme on the train.  The problem I'd have is how I'd get about once I got there.  It must be about 18 years since I last visited.  I do remember Zoe and I went on a tour in a minibus which was advertised as 'It's better by goat'.  It picked us up near our B&B in Kendal and took us to loads of different places.  It was brilliant.  I really do need to get out of my comfort zone!

I believe you, Pen, But thousands wouldn't. :D

My rebus today is the train in the picture below and its terminuses.  If you go the distance, you will travel 1072 miles (1726km) and take 2 days.

Of course it would be much quicker if you flew, Pen.

Another cracking rebus Jack  :)  My poor brain was worn out when I'd finished

It would be a lot quicker! But then you wouldn't enjoy the lovely scenery.  Having said that I wouldn't want to share a sleeping cabin with a bunch of total strangers  :(

I'm back on the pink muck this evening.  Sadly no sauv blanc.  Though I'd got a bottle but when I looked properly it was pink pinot.  Numpty  :-R
