Whatever / Astroturf Anyone?
« on: March 09, 2014, 10:17:21 PM »
I am just girding my loins to give my small lawn it's first cut of the year.  Thought I'd delay the dreaded moment by spending a few pleasurable minutes on Chi :) My grass is growing like the clappers - especially in this beautiful sunshine.  No I'm NOT complaining!  My lawn gives a whole new meaning to the song Whispering Grass ??? Who did sing that?  I can see them but can't bring their names to mind.  Think they were in It Ain't Half Hot Mum?  Help please!  :-C

Whenever I post anything on the Forum it doesn't show up immediately.  Likewise I don't see any replies that have been posted until I sign out and sign back in!  Sorry to be a bit of a dunce but can somebody please tell me where I'm going wrong ???

Not sure if you're still about but just wanted to wish you lots of luck for tomorrow.  Hope they have a bed available and the op goes well and you are soon at home making a very speedy recovery.  Best wishes, Love Penny

My friend & I have just returned from a few days holiday in Konigswinter which is a small town on the Rhine in Germany.  Last sunday, when we left Cologne railway station & got on the coach to our hotel, the temperature was 38c! 8)  Hotter than a lot of places in the Med.  The coolest temperature was 27c on Thursday.  That was the day we visited the Floriade in Venlo, Holland.  A bit like an enormous flower show/trade show.  Beautiful gardens and displays from all round the world.  Excellent.  Back to earth with a bump today & back to my desk!

Whatever / Something to make you smile......

If you get a spare few minutes can I recommend a website www.webuyanycat.com. Simon's Cat is another one to look for.  Very funny, particularly if you're a cat owner! If it doesn't make you smile, or even laugh, I'll eat my hat!!  :-C

Whatever / Holiday...
« on: June 26, 2011, 06:41:24 PM »
My friend & I have just returned from a weeks holiday in the Black Forest area of Germany.  Beautiful scenery but the weather was slightly bizarre.  One day we got sunburnt & the next we had torrential rain and a thunderstorm. The daytime temperature varied enormously from about 13c to about 25c in the few days we were there.  If there are any anoraks out there who love trains we had the most amazing steam train ride through stunning scenery - over viaducts and through tunnels it twisted & turned - brilliant!  Genuine Black Forest Gateaux was very yummy!  Sadly, that's my only holiday this year.  Roll on next year!

Have only slightly missed my fix of Chihuahua whilst I've been away!  :-C

Am I the only person in the Uk who is fed up to the back teeth with the constantly howling gale? Yes it's great for drying the washing but that's about all.  Yesterday it was a beautiful day here so I took my book and chair out into the garden.  After 10 minutes of my pages being blown about I gave up and went for a walk! As I am sitting here now I can actually hear it whistling and howling around my house.  It's like living in Provence without the wonderful scenery!  :-C

Am I the only person who finds putting the clocks forward/back a little bit of an ordeal?  I am sitting here at 11.30am and am thinking to myself it's actually 10.30 really! I will carry on doing this for the next few days.  I feel all out of bonk and wish I could rid myself of this irritating habit. It doesn't seem to make any difference if the clocks are forward or back I've been doing it for years.  On the lighter side, when I worked in a bank years ago we had to work the occasional Sunday.  One year I did arrive at work an hour early as I did completely forget about changing the clocks! Very embarrassing!   :-[ :-C

Whatever / Good Morning Smaug!

Hi Smaug
Just to say Hello.  Not often I see you in live play.  What time is it in your neck of the woods?  Probably nearly bedtime.  Hope weather is a little cooler in Sydney now.  Do you celebrate Valentines Day in Oz?  The postman had to bring a van this morning to carry the huge amount of cards I received!

Watching the news this morning I was horrified to see that there are now bush fires raging in Western Australia, just outside Perth.  The situation is not helped by the very hot weather and high winds.  The report said that, thankfully, there was no loss of life but the firemen were having a terrible job trying to contain the situation and keep peoples homes safe. I hope and pray that the elements are not going to throw anything else at Australia as I think enough is enough.

Just a quick note to says thanks very much for the instructions.  Will give it a whirl at the weekend and see how I get on.  Our cat was rescued from the RSPCA about 3 years ago.  He's very lazy but he hasn't got a bad bone in his body.  He's never once raised a paw in anger at us!  My only complaint is that he's a real foodie and never stops eating.  Think he must have hollow legs!
