Word Games / Hard

Does anyone else find that some puzzles come easier, and others are like pulling teeth. I had such a hard time with today's. I'm no maven bu can usually get to within three or four of the common words if I work at it a bit. Today--12 still to go! Terrible! And I was off work, so I have :'(no excuse!

Gazou is the new alias of Rutabaga. Something went wrong with Rutabaga as a sign in, I don't know what, so she changed to Gazou, and the francophone is currently in the lead. You go girl!

I'd just like you all to know that my friend Rutabaga, who is currently leading the pack, is a native French speaker; she has lived all her life in France, except for a year abroad in England many years ago. I consider that completely amazing. Her verbal skills are second to none.

I'd like to stake a claim for the word tude, which, I would suggest, has become detached from its lengthier origin and has now accreted around itself all kinds of hip urban meanings viz:

I noticed the other day that sanga was accepted, but not sangha. Unless sanga means something entirely different that I never heard of, I think sangha is the more accepted spelling.

There's a whole category, don't you think, of words one thinks of with regret, that could almost be played, but not quite. Like today the word zeugma came into my head so I tried seugma but of course it has to be a z, so zeugma will stay up there in the world of the Almost Words, and in the subcategory of Almost Words I Once Knew the Meaning Of But Have Now Entirely Forgotten.

Oh boy! For a fleeting moment this evening I was ahead of Bigger Bird Brain, who must have gone off to eat dinner or watch tv or write an incisive piece of investigative journalism while I was scratching my head and intermittently tapping at the keyboard.
Well, that was very nice.
Thanks BBB, for going off to do whatever you did. You gave me untold pleasure.
And now back to this cheap and tasty Prosecco by the name of Ombra, $11.99, can't beat it.
By the way did I tell you about today?
1. Got a parking ticket--forgot alternate side ($45)
2. Someone threw a rock through my almost new car window (smashed)and another at the door (dented)($$$???$$$)
3.One of the dogs has an infected toenail and is hopping along on three legs(c.$150, or who knows)
So--thanks again BBB--that was a precious moment.

Word Games / Tools

It has begun to dawn on me that a lot of you gals out there are using tools. Like, dictionaries and stuff. Whereas I have been doing it out of my head. So to speak.
I believe the Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons had tools. Chimps too. So maybe I should go carve me a piece of antler.

...before I got the 9 letter one. Jeez. And this was my day off work! I got nothing done except a haircut and a half-assed housecleaning.

Words / Not exactly a new word suggestion

Today's puzzle made me think of the word "Innie." Most children around here would know what it means because they compare their innies with other people's innies or outies. I wonder if its usage extends beyond NY? Everyone has either an innie or an outie, and innie being a belly button that goes in, and an outie, one that sticks out.
Have you compared innies and outies lately?
I don't think we'll find it in a dictionary.
