There was another common word on March 8 in the Standard - gigue. Is it really common? I'm hopeless at catching all the common words, but I rarely come across one which I have never, ever even heard. I can't quite imagine using it - perhaps "I say, fancy coming up for a quick gigue?"

Maudland - funny you should mention the random puzzles. I lurked as an "anon" for a while doing them - plenty of rosettes. Playing "live" - very few. Performance anxiety??

Hello Maudland. You mention becoming slightly addicted - as quite the newcomer myself I agree. Sucked in by the Standard puzzle, then the 10 letter Chinchilla, now the Challenge (which I call Godzilla). After a few rosettes on Standard (yay) I finally managed to obtain the cherished rosette yesterday on the Challenge (lodestone) staying at 100%. My subsequent jig of triumph (to the imagined theme from 'Rocky') was neither pretty nor dignified. Needless to say, today has been appalling, getting nowhere fast with any of the puzzles. Hooked, darn it, hooked!! Run whilst you can!!
