What about "hemi"?

Nearly all of the trucks here are advertised as having a hemi.

Words / Least Common Common Word

Hi Alan (and all),

I was wondering if you could tell us the common word that the least number of people found for a given puzzle.  For instance, what was the common word that the least number of people found in today's Challenge/Standard.  Not every day (that would involve too much work).  But perhaps once a week or once a month.  It would be  interesting to see which words people don't know as well.

What about "lurve"?  Apparently it's included in the Webster's New Millennium Dictionary of English.

Pons was one of the last of the common words that I got yesterday.  It's one I've seen on the list before, but haven't had the chance to use in every day language yet.  ;)

I managed to miss noes.  Another one of those tricky words ending in s that are still allowed!

What about "uber"?  In the U.S., it is often used without the umlaut above the u.  It has a meaning of super/superior.

For some background on the use of uber, see the Wikipedia article.

I know what you're saying, Dean.  The other day, one of the last common words that I found was literally "easy".  How's that for mocking?!

Oh and 3B, I thought of you while playing Friday's game--nudest!

I also tried bling.  I think that it should be allowed.   I hear bling by itself more often than "bling-bling" now.

Word Games / How 9-letter Words are Selected
« on: April 03, 2007, 03:26:00 AM »
Will it be possible to see the exact same daily puzzle twice?  i.e. On days that there is more than one possible nine-letter word (like today) are all words up for grabs as a daily puzzle option? ???  Does that make sense?

What about "rerod"?  It is a reinforcing rod or bar used for concrete work.  It is also sometimes known as rebar...

Hi Alan,

Is there a keyboard command that will "clear" the letters on the rack?  I can now use the keyboard to enter letters, scroll through the previous words, shuffle the letters, and submit words.  But as far as I can tell, there isn't a keyboard command for the clear command.  Maybe I just missed it.

Thanks Alan!

Word Games / Search Feature
« on: February 21, 2007, 12:59:39 AM »
I was wondering if it would be possible to add a search feature to the game.  I was thinking that it would help if we could quickly find the name(s) of our "competition" - the person/people who usually rank similar to us.  So it wouldn't be a search of the whole site, just a search through that day's rankings for the person you are looking for.

I would rather not submit the word only by pressing the arrow.  It slows me down.  I would like to stick with the way it is now.

Word Games / Re: a Jumble button

I agree.  To work around the lack of a shuffle or jumble button, I randomly type the letters in and don't submit the "word".  That way, I can see the letters in a different order, but it doesn't affect my hit rate.
