I was somewhat surprised that these two words were classified as rare in the Challenge puzzle a couple of days back (the HISTAMINE game).  Both are pretty common, I'd have thought.

I suspect the verb 'to dack' is an Australianism.  Do other people call trousers dacks?  I'd support it being included as a rare word.  Dacks too, if not already allowed (same deal as for pants and tongs - a seeming plural that isn't.)

I tried that too.  I agree it should be allowed in Chi, at least as a rare word.

I've heard it before, but it's certainly less common than slunk, or even slank.  I was surprised it was common, but I got it, so I'm not complaining!

You shouldn't feel inferior, IM.  Parenthood is a pretty important job.  You're a pretty decent Chi player, too!  It's also great to see a young person playing the game.  I sometimes think it's just oldies!

I've never heard of it either.

Yes TRex, that's true.  My argument is that I was so discombobulated by the alleged rareness of ghee, that I failed to see the final common word (which was retie, a word I usually get).  ;)

OK it's a deal, MK.  Casein should definitely be common.

Scene:  Yesterday's standard puzzle.  Morbius needs one more common word for a rosette.  He sees ghee and thinks "Yes!  One rosette coming up!"  He plays it - it comes up as rare.  Expletives uttered.  He fails to find the final word.  Misses rosette.  More expletives uttered.

Most people have heard of ghee, haven't they?  Shouldn't it be common?

I was about to respond to Cleverjen's post by suggesting that it should be Alan's call, since he is Chi's creator and owner.  So I'm glad that Alan has commented.  I'm very glad to hear that there are no plans for advertising on the Chi site - we're bombarded with online advertising almost everywhere else.  Mind you, I think Alan is entitled to make some money if only to offset the costs of keeping the site running and the investment of time and energy.  Would it work as an app that people could buy for their mobile devices?

Yes, I think I follow your argument, Pat.  I guess if it's a word I always get, it might slightly increase my chances of getting a rosette because I'd be unlikely to miss it.  Otherwise, no real advantage, as you say.

Yep, you were right MK.  114 rosettes by my reckoning - second highest ever.

Yes, I'm a tragic Monty Python fan.  MK's reference to the cheesemakers has made me think that I must watch Life of Brian again soon.  Haven't seen it in years - one of the funniest films ever.

I agree with the bit about the cheesemakers being blessed.  ;D  As to casein, I think it's marginal.  I wouldn't object to it being made common, largely because it's a word I always see, so it would help me get a rosette.  It would be interesting to see how many players got it in the recent game and in previous ones.  If a majority of players got it, I think it strengthens the case for it to made common.

I've heard of it, and saw it in the game, but wouldn't have thought it was common.  Mind you, there are lots of words that count as common in Chi that I'd consider to be less common than rufous.  Nonetheless, I wasn't surprised when it came up as rare.
