Gosh, a relief to hear from you, but, my goodness, what a string of unfortunate events. Please accept my wishes for your complete and speedy recovery. Also, a kiss for your wife!

I think it's because 'chinchilla' is a ten-letter word.

The New York Times has been pretty restrained. It's not too mirthful. Today's headline, 'Britain's New Finance Chief Repudiates Prime Minister's Economic Plan.' Since our politics here in the US are in such a terrifying mess, I guess there's not too much room for snickering.
The most notable thing for me has been the quick transformation of Liz Truss looking glowing as though she had won a hard-fought battle to be Prom Queen to Liz Truss with all the shine gone and looking startled out of a dream.
Watching politics is just really no fun anymore.

So sorry to hear that his big generous heart has stopped. What a guy! Farewell, Les.

Thanks, Alan, for such a treasure. It's kind of Father's Day for you, isn't it?

Baseball has 'Who's on First?', but cricket has this:

Gosh, thanks for the clarification!

When I looked for enm, I found Ethical Non-Monogamy.

Apparently this is a thing.

Middle English is far preferable!

Dear Pat,

I remember trying it (probably a long time ago now), and being surprised that it was rare. I am feeling embarrassingly incompetent at this word suggestion thing. Will I ever get it right? Perhaps I should have suggested that it be made common. When I looked on the Word List, I did not see it. I apologize for my post.

I would like to suggest 'anted,' as in: The poker players all anted up before play started. (I wrote this sentence, it is not a quote from any other source. After the 'beclad' incident, I'm terrified to suggest anything!)

There is a precedent:

When Richard Nixon resigned in 1974, his successor Gerald Ford immediately granted him a pardon.

Apparently, Trump has discussed pardoning himself. That just about sums it up for this miserable man. He may just be truly (and deservedly) friendless. The loneliest person on Earth.

If the Congress were to impeach him (again), and convict him this time, I'm not sure how the pardon thing would work. Any Constitutional scholars out there?
