« on: September 17, 2007, 07:22:22 PM »
Hi Viz,

Its just you and me at the moment.  How are you going? I have missed seeing your smiling face on the forum lately - always enjoyed your input.  Hope all is well with you.  I have been really busy so only ducking in now and then.

Word Games / Random Game question
« on: July 24, 2007, 04:13:14 PM »
Alan - would it be difficult to provide an option in the Random game where you could input your own 9 letters.  I am thinking of transcribing the local paper letters - find it easier (after so much experience) to find words on the computer than with pen and paper.

Just a suggestion - wouldn't want to create a huge workload for you if it is complicated.

Could these two words be included in the Chi list?  I believe they are in the same category as shingles etc.

Whatever / When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
« on: June 17, 2007, 07:36:21 PM »
Remember 3B telling us about this poem.............

Quote
"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me.

Did any of the Aussies see Einstein (quiz program on ABC) tonight? There was a contestant wearing purple and a red hat - she is Queen of her local chapter of the Red Hat Society!

Didn't help her win the contest but guess she had fun parading her outfit!

Word Games / Question
« on: June 13, 2007, 02:24:02 PM »
Alan - Welcome back - glad you had a nice time in chilly Hobart. I was wondering why the forum was a bit quieter over the weekend but now I know its only you and me playing all is explained!

I was wondering if we can assume there will always be words starting with each of the 9 letters?

Whatever / Whatever!

3B - 24 Days Later didn't rate the 4 stars it was given in our local rag.  Wouldn't recommend it unless you like a lot of blood gushing from orifices, loud noises, and flickering film.  There was very little plot and the only character development was from normal people to monsters in a matter of seconds!  Not our best choice of films to date!

I'm off to Brisbane tomorrow night for a few days, so won't be on the board for a few days this week.

Glad to see you got your computer under control T!

Words / Skerrick
« on: May 26, 2007, 02:26:44 PM »
At a family get together the other day, the word skerrick (as in a very small quantity) was used, and my English nephew-in-law questioned it and said that it couldn't possibly be a word.

Is this an Aussie expression or do those of you up yonder know it?

Whatever / Thanks 3B

Thanks for the rain 3B.  It finally arrived last night.  Hope you sent enough to stay around for a while, as I'm sick of your fellow journos telling us how terrible it's going to be when we run out of water.  Could you have a word in their ear and get them to give us the occasional good news story!

Alan - I was surprised when the 9 letter word in the Canberra Times yesterday was whodunnit.  Is this on our list?

Hi Alan,

Can you please explain the time that is shown on the forum.  The time shown is currently March 13, 2007, 10:27:45 PM but here it is March 14 , 02:27 PM.  The time difference between  Oz EST & GMT is 11 hours at the moment, so I don't understand what the time in the forum represents.

Thanks Gaye

Whatever / Off on hols
« on: March 14, 2007, 02:18:21 PM »
Tomorrow, if I get through everything I need to do, will be my last time on Chihuahua for 10 days or so.  We are off to Perth on hols, and my husband reckons I'll have withdrawal symptons.  I hope I'll be so busy enjoying beautiful Perth and surrounds that I won't miss it too much.  However I'll be looking forward to signing on again towards the end of March. :D

Word Games / Percentage of Standard Words Found
« on: March 03, 2007, 08:55:26 AM »
Would it be possible to show a percentage of the standard words found (not necessarily on the scoreboard)?  Although there is the summary of possible words etc before you start the game, I usually forget to take not and one challenge I set myself is to at least to try and find all the standard words.

Also just as a matter of interest is the middle letter randomly selected or is there an algorithm used to select it?
