Words / Meerkat
« on: March 05, 2021, 07:26:58 PM »
I played meerkat in yesterday's 10 letter puzzle and was surprised that it came up as rare.  I was also surprised to find that only about 15% of players found it.  Obviously it's a hard word to spot.  Nonetheless, I reckon pretty much everyone knows what a meerkat is, so I'd argue that it should be a common word.

Words / Word suggestion: shroom
« on: December 23, 2020, 07:25:35 PM »
From the recent MUSHROOMED game - shroom is a term for those so-called 'magic mushrooms' (the hallucinogenic kind).  It's in several dictionaries.  Worth adding as a rare word in my view.

Words / Racoon/raccoon
« on: December 01, 2020, 09:33:44 PM »
Racoon appeared as a common word in yesterday's 10 letter puzzle.  I got it this time after missing it in an earlier puzzle.  Dictionaries list it as a variant spelling of raccoon (which I presume is also common in Chi).  It seems odd to me that a variant spelling would be classified as common.  I've only ever seen it written as raccoon.  As a general principle, I think most variant spellings should be classified as rare.  Of course, there are no raccoons in my part of the world, so maybe racoon is a common variant elsewhere.

Words / Baldie/baldies
« on: October 22, 2020, 07:30:10 PM »
One of the words I missed in yesterday's 10 letter puzzle was baldies.  I didn't play it because I'd already played baldie which was accepted.  Surely if baldie is accepted, baldies cannot be accepted because of the plurals rule.  It didn't cost me a rosette, but it's still rather annoying.

Words / Rehire/rehired
« on: June 16, 2020, 07:19:02 AM »
From the recent HEREDITARY game: Rehire (common), rehired (rare).  I can't see why they should be classified differently.  Both common, I'd suggest.

Words / Cloistral common?
« on: May 25, 2020, 09:35:11 PM »
Found by only 27 of 336 players in yesterday's 10 letter puzzle.  It's certainly not common to me!

Words / Word suggestion: energist
« on: April 26, 2020, 10:00:02 AM »
Not accepted in yesterday's standard puzzle.  An energist is an adherent to the philosophy of energism, a concept in ethics in which self-realisation is the highest good (according to  It's also the adjectival form of energism.  I'm not sure if energism is accepted in Chi.  If not, I'd suggest including it too.  Both, of course, are rare words.

Words / Word suggestion: antivax
« on: April 22, 2020, 06:31:56 PM »
I tried antivax in yesterdays EXCAVATING game, but it wasn't accepted.  Some dictionaries list it as anti-vax, others as one word.  Worth including as a rare word perhaps.

Words / Made-up words
« on: April 16, 2020, 06:20:20 PM »
From yesterday's BIOCHEMIST game - it's not a real word but it should be:  Shitcom (a really bad sitcom).  It could be applied to so many shows!

Words / Tangoed/tangoes
« on: April 13, 2020, 07:17:44 AM »
Both words appeared in yesterday's Challenge puzzle.  Tangoed was common, tangoes was rare.  That seems anomalous to me.  Shouldn't they both be classified the same?

Words / Word suggestion: godsent
« on: April 13, 2020, 07:13:39 AM »
I tried godsent in yesterday's Challenge puzzle, but it wasn't accepted.  It's in several dictionaries as an adjective derived from the noun godsend.

Words / Indoor/indoors
« on: April 07, 2020, 06:00:06 PM »
I played both indoor (accepted as a common word) and indoors (not accepted) in the INDECOROUS 10 letter puzzle.  Dictionaries classify indoors as an adverb, so it isn't a plural or verb form ending in 's'.  That being the case, it should be accepted in my view.

Words / Word suggestion: workstream
« on: February 16, 2020, 07:01:10 PM »
I thought this might have been the second ten letter word in yesterday's puzzle, but it was not allowed, despite being in several dictionaries.  Here's the definition from one of them:

workstream/ (ˈwɜːkˌstriːm) /

commerce any one of the areas of activity into which a company’s business may be divided.

Word Games / Weirdness
« on: February 05, 2020, 10:19:11 AM »
I've been experiencing some strange occurrences recently:

Letters randomly disappearing when using the shuffle function.
Getting the 'you must use the (central letter)..' message, even when I have used it.
Words entering themselves before I've hit the enter key.

Has anyone else had experiences like this?  It all seems very weird to me.  ???

Word Games / Scoreboard anomaly
« on: October 20, 2019, 09:46:54 PM »
At the conclusion of the 10 letter puzzle today, I had 115 words.  However, as soon as the puzzle closed, my total on the scoreboard reduced to 114.  I counted the words I'd played and there were 115.  I know the scoreboard doesn't update the instant you play a word, but the last word I'd played must have been 5-10 minutes before the puzzle ended.  I'm not that fussed about losing one word from my total, especially as it was a rare word, but I'd hate to lose a word that costs me a rosette.
