Word Games / Re: 7 by many club

Actually I like the 7 by many. Now that Iím getting better at the games I might revisit it. Youíre right about my sister-in-law being amazing. She really is so smart. And she gets rosettes like Rhino - extremely quickly!

When Iíve achieved the triple rosette in a day (not as often as Iíd like but certainly more often than before) Iím finding myself lying in bed with words and letters just spinning round my head anyway so I might as well torture myself with a new game!

Iíll look at it again soon. In the meantime I like to read your words you miss out on and found, itís exactly what I do too - the trials and tribulations of a Chi player.
On the appall one, I find I often miss install/instal.
And I realised a while ago that pressing on the meaning quite often just led you up a garden path!

Is the new 7 by many club now destined to last slightly longer than Mal Meningaís political career?

Iím surrounded by solipsists and Islands in the Stream keeps running through my head!
I had a bit of a giggle reading a quote by George Best, a Northern Island professional footballer who spent most of his career at Manchester United, who was asked how he managed to spend all of his fortune. He said, ďI spent most of it on booze, birds and cars and the rest I just squandered.Ē

Moyra I have thought about the notepad beside the bed but didnít want to wake my husband. Itís funny, when I do  achieve the triple rosette in a day, which doesnít happen as often as I like but happens way more than five years ago when I first played, I kinda feel at a loss. My brain will go to chew on the problem and then itíll relax cause thereís no lingering last common word to find.
I remember when my sister-in-law, Doxydaisy came to stay with me and introduced me to Chi on Sept 7 2016, I watched in amazement as she fired off so many words in the first puzzle I played.
I thought I was pretty good, having played the Sydney Morning Heraldís puzzle for years.
I had no idea!!
And I so enjoy the mostly good-hearted camaraderie of the players. I think people who enjoy words and word puzzles and grammar and spelling and reading are dwindling and I for one are so glad that Doxydaisy introduced me to this quirky, friendly and hilarious community.

Hi Les - even though I donít play the 7 by many I know what you mean about friendly competition. My husband says I donít play games for fun, but you know what? I do, but I like to play with others who care and who try.
I stopped playing the 7 by many because the other three puzzles pretty much take up most of my day and night - I go to sleep with words spinning around my head. Quite often I think of a word in the middle of the night and hope Iíll remember it in the morning!
If Iím struggling to find that elusive last word or three Iíll check my benchmark players and see if they have a rosette. Lately Iíve missed a few - some I never would have found like desmesne and some I could kick myself for like linger!

Great news! Itís like ELAND, always a thrill when I can play it.
As for ARIGHT, I always thought it was a seafaring term, obviously Iím on the wrong track.

Whatever / Sorry Alan

Thereís no factor Jack. Itís just that TRUED was asked for in 2014, which is 7 years ago and Iíve just turned 54 so that will make me 61! And it might still not be resolved. Anyway who cares I guess. Itís up to Allan, itís his game and having arbitrary discussions about words being common, rare or included at all just helps pass the time. I suppose when I post about a word Iím just as interested in how other players feel about the word as I am about any changes to the rules. So letís just forget the whole thing!

Well I guess I was getting excited cause you were asking for other players opinions on AFIELD, which of those that replied, the majority felt it was well known to them.
So Iíll get back in my box and leave it to you! Who asked for TRUED? Iíll be in my sixties if you wait seven years!
