Hi Pat,

A politician apologise?? I'd love to see that. Your chancellor No 4 sounds like a voice of reason perhaps after all the mayhem of recent weeks.

We had a famous 'cigar' moment in Australian politics a few years back.  Our Treasurer and Finance Minister snuck out behind Parliament House after delivering a particularly harsh budget, to have a quiet puff, unaware that a photographer managed to capture the moment. Nothing smacks more of an 'out of touch' politician, than puffing away on a cigar.

Thanks for the ongoing insider commentary on the UK scene Pat - it's fascinating!

Hi Pat,
Commiserations for what's happening in your country's government at present.  I live in Australia and listen to ABC Radio National as my main news and commentary source.  There seem to be regular updates on that station about the deteriorating state of politics in the UK.  This morning there was a very good commentator from your Channel Four News, called Krishnan Guru Murthy who brought us up to date with the latest shenanigans.

Is that really your Health Minister??  I don't know whether to laugh or cry :-P

Keep us posted!

It's just too sad hearing about Les - I haven't stopped thinking about it since reading of his passing yesterday.  He was such a character with his comments, but also a true gentleman.  He'll be sorely missed by the Chihuahua community.

That's awesome Jack!  Well done and so interesting to see where everyone comes from.  I'm from the NSW Blue Mountains - like Val.
cheers

Well said everybody, Jacki et al!  I really love this game too and like someone mentioned, it really gives my day structure and a bit of a buzz to the brain. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it.

Thank you so much Alan for the joy you have brought the Chi community!

Val, I still haven't bumped into you around the mountains yet....

my love to all of your wherever you are and whatever you are dealing with right now

warmest regards
Linda (aka guiltypleasure)

Hi Jack,

Commiserations on the political scene up your way!  One of the nicest aspects of the blue mountains is the progressiveness of the majority of the population.  Your upcoming state election should be quite interesting ....

Val,

I hope we bump into each other one day!  It would be great to actually meet another Chi devotee  :)

cheers

Les, I have now been 'guilted' into filling in my location in my profile.  Thanks for the nudge!!  So subtle...

Jack, gosh you must have just got into QLD in time before the border shutdown.  Do you like it up there??

Valerie - lucky you on acreage in Wenty Falls!  We are lucky to live in this amazing area aren't we, where the weather is always a hot topic.  Did you get snow in August??  We have some nice falls here in Katoomba.

Birdy - please take care.  Wow your city has been through so much but you seem to have a pretty sensible mayor at least.  An interesting year for you in the US in so many ways. Our thoughts and hopes are with you :)

Ozzyjack, thanks for digging out that old info.  I thought I had mentioned where I came from somewhere in the dim dark past of this forum!  Where are you and the 'Ozzy' crew from?

The Daily Quest / Re: Yesterday's GRANARIES game

Hi Pen,
Thanks for the kind thoughts re bushfires.  Some areas in Victoria and the south coast of NSW were hit really badly yesterday. It's shocking to see such devastation happening.

Jacki - I'm glad someone else misses 'sing'. I feel as though I've missed it before as well. AS you say, so annoying when you get sign, singe, etc.  I think sometimes my mind is racing ahead of itself!

MK - I will definitely try your suggestion.  I think that's a good one and perhaps it gets other brain circuitry operating because you are doing it by hand. Definitely worth a try - perhaps today even....

Oh the frustration of being one word away from a rosette especially when that word is 'sing'!

Part of the fun and addictive quality of this game of course.  Thank you Alan for bringing this game to us every day and giving a little zing to each day.

Happy new year to all!  Stay safe, particularly those who have bushfires raging all around them at present (including myself in the blue mountains west of Sydney).  These are unsettling times indeed.

Hi Pat
If you are in Finder and click on the box that has 'Date Last Opened' in it, it toggles between most recent and least recent file.  Likewise if you click on 'Name' it toggles alphabetically.  Click it a few times and you will see it change order back and forth.
Good luck!

Carol and Les

Have you tried the Guardian online cryptic crossword? https://www.theguardian.com/crosswords

I have to confess that I only do the quick crossword, but I really like all the features that you can use (e.g. check you answer to see if it is right - not quite cheating, but close).
