You see, old bean, in your mildly irritating but. Always endearing way, you have permeated the hearts of the Chi gang

Hopefully your absence bodes a soon to be storied adventure or misadventure and nothing worrisome.

I seem to remember that Les 'took a sabbatical' a couple of years ago, for personal reasons. On that occasion he did announce his intentions in advance.
He reappeared eventually.
Hopefully that will happen this time as well

Is it my imagination or has Mike (mkenuk) disappeared as well???

I can't recall seeing him amongst the rosettes on the 7bm and can't see him anywhere on any puzzles - on holiday (with Les???)

He's been out of commission for many months (years?) initially due to ill health.

Yes, Penny, you're right. Paula has passed on messages to and from Alonzo....but I think it has been quite some time since there was any news of him.

Alonso will be happy to know he’s still in your thoughts. We were last in touch a couple of months ago; he was in the rehab facility. Cheerful. Not complaining. I’ll check in on him soon & send regards.

It’s heartening to know there are genuinely concerned people out there in cyber space

Glad to hear that Alonso is okay.  Hope he's not too bored in rehab - my friend felt the time passed much too slowly.  Do let him know that we are thinking of him.
