Title: A big thank you to Alan
Post by: Jacki on December 30, 2020, 07:52:43 PM
As the year draws to a close, I'd like to thank you Alan for continuing to provide a site where I can rejoice in finding the final common word like retentive in the day before's Challenge puzzle and then the lows of seeing I've missed sloe again to forfeit another rosette.
It's a comfort to come here and pit myself against myself and interact with other like-minded players. Obviously you don't have advertisements and you don't pester us with spam and I'm grateful for my dear sister in law, Doxydaisy, introducing me to the game just over four years ago.
My stats have improved somewhat in that time, along with my knowledge.
I love the forum, the argy-bargy and the good old-fashioned entertainment it provides.

My goodness, Jacki, you have expressed that beautifully.  Our thanks too, to Alan for Chihuahua...it gives our day some structure....coffee at 10am and 2pm  :D.  Any other playing is a bonus. All the best to everyone for 2021, Moyra & Matt...(Auntiemo and Ticklemonster )

A big thanks from me too Alan.  The Forum & puzzles give me a huge amount of pleasure.  It's our own little community & I love it.
Best wishes to everyone for a much happier New Year.

I will add my thanks to Alan too, and endorse the previous comments. I think I have played every game in 2020 and always enjoy them.

Thanks too to Jack and Penny for their posts, full of banter, jokes, puzzles and friendship. Brings a smile each day, a needed tonic in this blighted year.

A HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone

Thank you, Jacki, for your eloquent tribute to Alan and for expressing the gratitude we have for the provision of the Chihuahua puzzles and forum and for the effort, wisdom, and sometimes tolerance, in maintaining a site of the highest standard.

I am optimistic that 2021 is going to be much better for most people than in 2020 and I sincerely wish this is so for all the people who play Chihuahua and particularly those who contribute to the forum.

A HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone.

Well said everybody, Jacki et al!  I really love this game too and like someone mentioned, it really gives my day structure and a bit of a buzz to the brain. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it.

Thank you so much Alan for the joy you have brought the Chi community!

Val, I still haven't bumped into you around the mountains yet....

my love to all of your wherever you are and whatever you are dealing with right now

warmest regards
Linda (aka guiltypleasure)

I echo everyone's sentiments wholeheartedly! Huge thanks Alan! I think I would go around the twist without my daily intake of chi.. especially this year. Let's all hope it's a far better year next year. Cheers to everyone!!

A very Happy New Year from me to all forumites and Chi players. Surely 2021 will be an improvement!

Thanks everybody for your kind words. I'm glad I'm able to bring a little happiness into people's lives. May we all have more rosettes and fewer oh-no-I-forgot-to-play-sloe-again moments.

I'll echo what everyone else says. Chi has brought a touch of sanity to a totally insane year...

Thanks Alan - even frustration provides a distraction (will 2021 bring the inclusion of covid into the dictionary???)

                                    THE FORUM

The forum presents and i get to meet the famous Mister Walker
Shy at first, with encouragement, i'm turned into an avid talker
The forum presents and from the U.K. poignant Pat appears
Her invaluable advice and assistance sustains me for years

Jacki loves a bet and a drink and just like me, never takes a step back
The forum presents and in Thailand i find a teacher named Mike
Such a calm, wise and sensible man, he is impossible to dislike
The forum presents and i am puzzled by this odd name of Moribus
Science fiction fan no doubt and fastidious, his stats are ominous
The forum presents and to keep me in line is Rogue Mother
Someone to aspire to, her life experiences are like no other
The forum presents and i see this scary name of 2dognight
Turns out that Carol of the outback, is an absolute delight

Enjoys a good double malt but to challenge his logic is very risky.

The forum presents and from Melbourne comes a good mate in Stan
Any computer problem and i've had plenty, well yelnats is the man
The forum presents and what a pleasure it is to greet the wonderful hod
An educator all her life, continues to teach me and for that gets a big nod
The forum presents and from Renfrewshire / Scotland comes the scouser
Rumour has it that years ago, young Tony was quite the rebel rouser
The forum presents and introduces me to a kindred spirit named Ozzyjack
The type of father i wished for but never had, he fulfills me with all i lack.

From time to time i just sit and ponder
So many hours spent on Chi, why i wonder
I am getting older, must exercise the brain
Either use it or lose it, is the oft repeated refrain.

Thank you to Alan & all of the players for helping me to exercise my brain

Spot on Linda.   He's my rather lame effort in response ;D

Our friend Les hails from Brisbane,
He enjoys a beer in the sun,
Earlier this year he disappeared,
But happily he’s now reappeared,
Aren’t we pleased that he did!

I don’t normally bother with seeing out the old year and seeing in the new, but just this once I will, because I want to be sure that 2020 with all the misery it has brought us has definitely finished.

Cheers one and s all.

Tony, i must apologise for your accidental exclusion from the " tribute ".
That oversight has now been addressed.
In fact i will continue to make sporadic updates as there are many more players that i wanted to include but i just ran out of time.

Well, Alan, the New Year has already come to you while we wait here on the Californian coast, getting ready with our sighs of relief as 2020 fades away.

As everyone has said: Thanks so much for bringing us such a wonderful game. The Challenge Game waiting for me at morning coffee time is a daily pleasure I owe to you!

All Best Wishes!!!

Two causes of joy to start the new year:

Waking up this morning and reading all these lovely messages to Alan, all fully deserved, for creating something that has helped immensely through the awful days of 2020 and that will still be there to help us all face whatever 2021 and beyond may bring.

Talking of which: the other reason for joy? My partner (in a care home) got her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on New Year's Eve. Stay safe, folks, there really is help on the horizon.

All the best to everybody for 2010.

Jock

And again, THANK YOU ALAN for Chihuahua. This year I have been able to entice my 2 sisters to play and one has brought a great-nephew and great-niece too. One of them is kind enough not to always beat me!

And for those missed out on their New Year's eve fireworks (as we in Melbourne did)...
