Not sure why this word isn't common - I use it a lot, it's pretty GLARY in Australia!
Also AIOLI should be revisited. Pretty sure everyone who's read a menu would have seen the word.

Don't forget that words that are common in one part of the world might not be known, or at least not well known, in others. Such words are usually classed as rare. Glary isn't used in the UK.

It just means a too-bright light. Maybe you don't get enough sunshine.

I was able to guess at what it means. It wasn't difficult. The word is in my electronic Oxford dictionary (a condensed version of the real thing), described as originating from Middle English. It's still not a word I've ever heard used though.
