Originally a Scottish Gaelic word, which means house, but in very common use in Scotland as an anglicized word. And one I seem to play every time the letter combo presents itself, before kicking myself once again. Just as well I don't stress about my %age.
I wouldn't suggest it be added to Chi as a common word, but it would be nice to see it accepted as rare.

That's a word I've tried several times, too, cb, completely forgetting that it won't be accepted.

Better than me. There are a couple of words I just can't believe won't be accepted so I keep trying them hoping, somehow, Chi has come to its senses. :)

I'm sorry, cb and pat, but I can't see my way clear to adding tigh as a word.
The most recent English language dictionary I could find it in was the 1913 Webster's Unabridged, which labeled it obsolete: "A close, or inclosure; a croft. [Obs.] --Cowell." I couldn't find it in the online Dictionary of the Scots Language (http://www.dsl.ac.uk/).
The word appeared a number of times in search results from the Scotsman newspaper, but always as part of a place name, except for one item under the heading "Teach yourself Gaelic". All in all, the word's status as part of the English language seems too tenuous, from what I can see.
