I thought this would be a fun thread where no explanation would be needed!
-
Here you go then ..........
-
ooops! should have warned Lovely Linda about that one.
-
... and bless you too!
-
Mandy wondered why the other Goths didn't seem to accept her.........
-
If my daughter saw that she would go mental...
-
Because of the Goth outfits, or because of Sponge Bob ?
-
Not a funny picture, but a spectacular one. Taken by Robert Chaponot from the top of the Golden Gate Bridge.
-
Spectacular, true, but now I'm just a little dizzy ... :P
-
Me too - had heart palpitations just looking at it
-
Spongebob.....
What idiot climbed up there to take that picture....it wasn't bobbi was it, cos i wouldn't put it past her!!!
Fantastic view...especially if you need a blow dry...
-
Don't even suggest it - she'll take it as her next challenge!
-
No comment needed here.......
-
The only questions here are how and why ?
-
That wrinkle cream doesn't work LL...get a new one!!
-
Despite wanting to let the pictures speak for themselves, I notice that we have to type something, anyway!
-
This time, my forum friends, I'm posting a picture because I need your help. We saw this succulent with extraordinary flowers today. I've no idea at all what it might be. Googled without any success, using whatever descriptions I could. Does anyone have any idea?
-
It's all right folks.....you can stop all the frantic searching. (You were searching, I suppose ?) I kept on Googling (there's a song title for you!) and I found it. You will all be utterly thrilled to know that it is a Stapelia leendertziae.
-
Everyone and their dog knew that Binx....
You were just teasing eh???
-
You know me so well, T !!!
-
Here's some fancy "bare"-foot wear!

Redneck fishing ...

The Bear in the Old Donner Pass Highway
A bear was walking across Rainbow Bridge ( Old Hwy 40 at Donner Summit ,
Truckee in the Pacific Northwest ) when two cars also crossing the bridge scared the bear into jumping over the edge of the bridge. Somehow the bear caught the ledge and was able to pull itself to safety. Authorities decided that nothing could be done to help the bear that night so they returned the following morning to find the bear sound asleep on the ledge.
-
After securing a net under the bridge, the bear was tranquilized; he fell into the net and was lowered to the ground.
-
When he woke up, he walked out of the net.
-
There is a moral to this story, you know; this old bear made a wrong move and found he was hanging by his nails. Somehow he was able to pull himself up onto the ledge where he realized he was in a really bad, impossible situation.
So, what did he do? Yep, he took a nap and sure enough the situation took care of itself while he was asleep.
The moral: When confronted with a bad situation sometimes the best solution is to take a nap...
-
Found some Binks
-
Bobbi, i love the bear story...the piccies are stunning...that would make a brilliant childrens story.
There is your next project.
I'm off for a nap... :-S
-
I might use the CIA line to me advantage Geo...
'The CIA are trying to steal your penis...i've got just the place you can hide it'....
Do you think it will work....?? What would Roberts say to that do you think??
-
Love it T ;D I'd never actually thought of it that way. Great pick-up line - just substitute Secret Service (I think) for you, ASIO for me (I think that is Australian Security Intelligence Organisation - but we're not supposed to know, because it is a secret). I'm sure that line will be a hit ------ in any situation you wish to use it. Except perhaps, 18-30 year olds who might be a little bit more desirous of 20 year olds. Now don't get me wrong :o I'm not saying that you couldn't pass for a 20 year old, but........................, they just may be able to tell.
Roberts? uuum, not sure. I haven't kept up will all the forum posts recently, but I haven't seen one from him for ages. From what I've gleaned from the Roberts he wants us to know - I just bet he's out on the town using that line to his advantage - oops, I forgot, will his mother let him out at night??
-
Love 'em all, people!
-
Wot gud spellists they r then Binx....
I will give it a whirl Geo, and let you know how i get on...
-
The very latest in footwear fashion, girls..........

After a short visit to New Zealand, Michelangelo's David returns to Italy...
-
Now why does that image look so familiar to me???
Oh! i went clothes shopping the other....think i had better resume my diet!!! :o
-
Seem familiar to anyone ?
-
Not that I'm really concerned about getting getting older......
-
That sounds SSSOOOOOO familiar, binks!
Completely off-topic, here's an irresistable image....
-
Phew!! What IS that smell???
-
You notice the dog knows better than to protest.
Almost packed - on my way this afternoon.

Take care, Birdy, and enjoy yourself!

Just can't resist these kitties......

Dorm accommodations afford a restful sleep ...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a life!

There is always the alternative thought - that they could all be dead and lined up ready for disection >:D :'(
-
Only a true hag like you would conjure such unspeakable things! >:D
-
Unfortunately Threeb....there are those out there in our beautiful idealistic world who wouldn't think twice about that idea ...and much much worse....
In case you hadn't guessed i'm having a 'feeling down and out' couple of days...
Glad you're okay though-exhaustion is just another of those trying things on our [womens] job description..
-
I wish I could cheer you up, T! Perhaps extra rest, B-vitamins and a walk along the shore might help get back your joie de vivre!
Hey, didn't you see my "cats" thread? There's a cute series of kitty pics there too!
-
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH, AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AND TREBLE AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH to the cats, not T, of course!! >:D

I'm so excited! It's finally looking like spring here. Which means the temperature has warmed up, and flowers are finally coming out of the ground. Yay for hopefully no more snow for quite awhile. :)
The image is of an Aardvark Lark iris, and was taken from http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v228/cnetter/ (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v228/cnetter/).
-
Gorgeous flower, anonsi. We're heading through autumn and into winter now. Must admit, though, that winter in Queensland isn't quite the same as a European one!
-
My Meg will love those...
-
really adorable!
-
We often go to Kingston Maurward...[look it up] it's an agricultural college + other things.
The last time we went a sow had just had 16 piglets...2 days old when we saw them...
Meg was trying to get one to come close so she could put it in her handbag!!!
-
Here's another, then !
-
Did you have to soak him long to get him that colour Binks?
-
:D :D :D
Up close, this looks like Einstein. Stand back several feet and look again...............
-
That is so really really creepy -- two, two, two dead people in one!
-
doo do doo do, doo do doo do (That was the "Twilight Zone" theme song, of course )

Something I do on a regular basis....
Yes folks, I'm a trainbuff/spotter if you wanna call it that.

Original Size... http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e299/Colhad/Train%20pics/Diesels%20Queensland/2334-2366coal.jpg
I keep all my pics here.
http://s41.photobucket.com/albums/e299/Colhad/Train%20pics/Diesels%20Queensland/
Question?? Am I the only railfan on these boards??
-
I fear that you might be, Colhad. If there were lovely old steam trains puffing their way gently round the countryside, it might be different. I have fond memories of my early childhood in Britain (yes I can remember that far back.) At one stage we had a railway line at the bottom of the garden. Dad encouraged us kids to make terrible faces and scream obscenities at the train drivers in the hope that they would throw coal at us. Alas, it never happened, and the line was closed soon afterwards. It's all true, I swear it !
-
No problem Binkie, here are some kettles. ;)

-
Thankyou, kind sir !
-
I remember them too, as a child.
We used to stand on the bridge, just near our house, and let the steam go up our skirts....nothing new there then, and nothing much has changed actually!! :-R
-
Hope you were wearing your woolly knickers!?
-
Who, T ? Didn't you know she always goes commando ? (and that's a term I learned from her.....little innocent that I am !)
-
You mean she is a corrupter of innocents ad well! Wow, what a hag!
-
there is no end to my talents..... ;D
-
a never-ending
tail ... oops, er, tale? >:D

We has a new maskot! (iz hopes iz has posteded dis right!)
-
Love it, love it, love it ! :D
-
Aaaaaah! Cute!!
-
An Alaskan couple built a new playground for their two young sons. They finished it on Saturday night, and when they looked out of the bedroom window on Sunday morning, this is what they saw...........
-
I thought the shoehuahua was a bit cheesy kitteh....ha ha ha!!!! Very cute...
..and i love the bear cubs...that's when you send the troublesome kids out to play...
-
Closer to home - have a look at this Hercules moth which arrived in Port Douglas, North Queensland.
-
That is beautiful! Thanks. :D
-
That is one large moth, but also one fearless kid. My girls would have run, screaming hysterically.
-
Are you sure it's not from outer space? OMG!
-
It's quite something, isn't it ? Sadly, they only have a 10 day lifespan. All that magnificence for such a short time.....seems rather sad, somehow.
-
And only the lucky few that get to see it. Yes, tragic indeed. Makes you think how short our lives really are. Make the most of of, then!
-
Just realised that I used sad and sadly. Doesn't say much for my vocabulary, does it ? My excuse is that I'm getting tired !
-
Sweet dreams, binks!! :-Z
-
Fantastic...
I wouldn't want it flapping around my lounge light though....
-
I actually saw and photographed one of those up in the Daintree (way up in the wet tropics area in far north Queensland), but it wasn't quite that big. Maybe it was only a couple of days old. It was quite spectacular though.
-
Yoga Kitty, anyone ?
-
That's not so clever...i can do that too!!!!
-
Oh yeah? :-R You'll have to post a photo then :)
-
Did you notice the rather cross face of that kitten... >:(
Mine would be worse....and anyway i need a brazilian first... :-[
-
Now there's something way down at the bottom of my wish list, both the yoga move and the Brazillian :o
-
Mine too if i am honest...i'd rather have another ceasarian before the waxing - far less painful and much quicker and you get all the drugs.... :-R
...and if my legs were meant to be a scarf they would be a lot longer than they are.... >:(
-
An extraordinary photo........the camels are the very small white objects and the rest are their shadows.
-
Hard to believe, but really amazing!
-
It's by a photographer called George Steinmetz, and there's a larger version on his website.....
http://georgesteinmetz.com/
-
unbelievably beautiful!
-
Gosh Binkie, that's awesome!
T, I never thought of scarf legs, but I've practically got there with my boobs! :(
-
What a portfolio of other photos as well! I don't know how he does it -- the images are magical!
-
Thanks Binx,
Stunning...
-
ditto they're awesome
-
Does this qualify as a picture ??
-
Silly cow...spelling is awful...
-
That's why cows can't play Chi! Hahaha!
Plus their hooves are too big for the keyboard! Hahahax2!
-
Oh! is that why? their hooves are too big!!
I had wondered...
I thought it was because they weren't allowed in the house because they don't wipe their hooves on the way in!! Nothing to to do with them being thick then???
-
neigh! hahaha!
-
T, I think that is a very unkind aspersion you are casting on the intelligence of cows. I've always wondered if out there in the pasture, the cows are thinking deep philosophical thoughts while chewing their cuds. They could be ruminating on the origin of the universe for all we know. As for their dealings with ordinary events, haven't people traditionally thought that philosophers had their heads in the clouds and not much practical sense?
-
The cows must be highly intelligent if they are urging us to eat more chickens ... a sentiment very close to my heart! >:D
-
I love cows ... esp. grilled!
-
Roast cow is delish ... with Yorkshire puddings, roast spuds and mashed carrots and swede! >:D
-
or just by itself with a good glass of wine!
-
Presactly! >:D
-
Time for a toast!
I found this one just googling -- never heard it before, but it's really cute:
A toast to ...
Living
Lieing (sic)
Loving
Cheating
Live each day like it's your last
Lie about your age as long as you can
Love your friends like you may never see them again
Cheat death every chance you get
-
Cheers to that! >:D
-
:D
-
Oh dear! I was just about to take a bite of my chicken sandwich when I saw this piccy ... put me right off! >:D
-
Pretty in pink....
-
My first laugh of the day! Thanks.
-
Truly funny, bobbi! Won't keeping from eating one, though. Not just THAT one!
-
You wouldn't get much meat on one of those legs though....
-
Yeah, a bit spindly!
-
Not to mention hard on the teeth.
-
From an Aussie ( well, an honorary one ) to the rest of the world......
-
Too bad. Looks like a kick! ;)
-
You're trying to say that things aren't jumping in Australia?
-
Why get a Teacup Chi pup....when... you can get a beer mug Chipup!!!
-
Okay, everyone -- together -- say ...

-
If it's legal i might give it a shot...
-
Ah, them as grows green stuff in unlikely places is seldom legal my dear! >:D
-
Oh Dear....
I had better go and deweed my tumble dryer, bidet and sandwich toaster then... >:(
-
My G ... You are inventive!
-
What a fab compliment Toni...ta everso me luvvy...
-
This may not be exciting for the rest of you, but it is for us here in Queensland........look at all that rain !
-
I can understand the joy!
-
Goody for you, mates!
-
Happy for you! Hopefully it's the end of the drought.
-
It's raining again here...cos i've got my bloody washing on the line...
fill your boots Binx....
-
Hey T, do you think that's the problem Binkie and the rest of Queensland have been having? Maybe they don't know that you can pretty much guarantee a shower by either washing your car, leaving your windows open when you go out for the day, or hanging your washing out to dry.
-
It's definately worth a try, it works for me every single time....
So have a go Aussie friends....
Hang your washing out, wash your car and leave all your windows open...pop out for a while and see what happens... :-\
-
It doesn't seem to work like that over here, my friends ! Still, we've had a couple of days of really good rain. Also flash flooding, traffic chaos, of course, but hey, you can't have it both ways can you ?
-
A lesson in getting acquainted:
-
This may not be exciting for the rest of you, but it is for us here in Queensland........look at all that rain !
We are getting a lot of rain here, Binks. And I must say that it is not nearly as exciting as it must be for you. We've had so much rain lately, that we have flooding. And the forecast shows more rain to come!
-
Flooding here too....so that's every continent then [nearly!].
-
Hey Binkie, I was excited when I saw that rain map on line the other day too. The ground is nicely wet now and things are starting to look green again now that the dust has been washed off. No doubt there will be a spurt of growth in the plants and grass shortly. Dam levels are showing a combined level of 38.42% and should improve over the next fews days with all the run off - fingers crossed.
As for the good advice - we've been using the 'hanging our washing on the line' trick for ages, and all that happens is that we gather it in at the end of the day, completely dry. Not allowed to wash our car (unless you have a rainwater tank), so can't try that. Think that most people close their windows when they go out to keep out burglars, not rain - well, I know I do. But thanks anyway!
-
Titanic.....the sequel ?
-
Roy would have loved that picture...he adored penguins and took hundreds of pix when he was in the Falklands and Antartic...
Fab...
-
I'd so love to visit the Antarctic. I have seen an Emperor penguin, just once, in Tasmania. Saw it from a distance, and it was so large we thought for a moment it was a person!
-
I really enjoyed March of the Penguins. Have any of you seen it. Saw both the original French film(far superior) and the sanitised American version with cheesy narration delivered by Morgan Freeman.
Funny how different people react - my mother thought it was depressing. But then she tends to be a bit of a misery guts at the best of times.
-
We're getting pretty close to flooding too. My swimming pool is getting very near the top! It always seems to be a feast or famine here, either we are not allowed to water the garden except for half an hour twice a week or we are getting washed away!
-
Just to report ... north west England ... no rain, brilliant sun ... thank you! >:D
-
I loved March of the Penguins! Since I saw it in English, it must have been the American version. How was it sanitized?
It was very popular here and spawned a lot of merchandise.
-
Hot, dry as a bone -- no sign of penguins ...
-
I loved it too....the movie that is...
Sunny here today...
-
For my fellow Australians........
-
For love of the little pup -- a fashion statement:
-
Which is which.....???
-
The real chihuahua's wearing blue! ;)
-
Aaaaaaw !
-
Twin-puppy backpack! Very cute! ;D
-
Ain't it just ? On a different note.....
-
looks like HE won't miss the tennis matches!
-
I relate to this......
-
Whoever came up with that style must've had me in mind, too, mates!
-
Well, when my son gets round to showing me how to put my piccy on the forum, you will see that, apart from the fact that mine curls and is white, the picture Binkie found could be me.
-
Weyhey ! A picture of you at last, Toni, and very nice too ! It's so satisfying to know what other forumites actually look like. That way, we seem more like friends, don't you think ?
P.S I did use to have my photo online, but I got bored with it !
-
It's about time both you and threeb put your lovely, smiley faces back on the forum .... that is an order!! >:D
-
Hey, hey ... thanks, I think!
Actually, you're the one who's been more MIA .. just not around at the same time. So, it's great to be here -- at 4:30 AM!
The sacrifices I make for my mates ....
-
And yes, toni looks so cute!!!! ;D
-
4.30 a.m. are you completely and utterly a mad hag?!! Really do appreciate the sacrifices you make for us though, mate! Post that piccy ... the uber hag has spoken!! >:D
-
Don't make me do it -- noooooooooooo!
(alright, maybe soon ... :P )
-
Definitely very soon, is what you meant to whisper, I think!! >:D
-
maybe!
-
Definitely maybe! >:D
-
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps!!! Just like the old song! >:D
-
Tell 'em, sister !
-
Wussies!! >:D
-
You asked for it -- you got it! >:D
Who's the Hag now, eh?
-
Now you're stooping to roberts' depths, mate! >:D
-
I thought you'd like it!
-
Thanks for thinking I look cute Threeb! I did suggest to my son he could make me look at least 20k thinner, 30 years younger and gorgeous. He asked if I'd rather have a landscape pic! The rat! ;D
-
Kids -- you can't live without 'em, and you can't eat em! >:D
-
No, but you can give them a nasty suck! >:D
-
Presactly! >:D
-
How to tell if a Catholic is driving too fast........
-
Hang on, Jesus! ;)
-
;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Silly, but cute !
-
I thought it was very cute, in a silly way -- gave me a clucking chuckle for sure!
-
Glad to hear it ! It's now 1.08am. Not that I'm tired of course. I'll just rest my eyes for a moment.........be back very soon
-
Could I PLEASE have one ?
-
This one, maybe ?
-
Oh SO sweet!
-
That is exactly how i feel this morning.....[and i don't mean cute and cuddly, although i am of course :-R ]
-
Oh why didn't they take a photo 2 minutes later ?
-
"Taken off the coast of Mexico's Holbox Island by amateur photographer Sandra Critelli, this breathtaking picture captures the migration of thousands of rays as they follow the clockwise current from Mexico's Yucatan peninsula to western Florida.
Measuring up to 6ft 6in across, poisonous golden cow-nose rays migrate in groups - or 'fevers' - of up to 10,000 as they glide their way silently towards their summer feeding grounds. "
-
Wow -- what an amazing photo -- look like green wedges flying along ...
-
That is so beautiful!
-
Beautiful!
-
If they are poisonous and it had been me taking the photo, all you would have seen is their tails.....
Amazing picture...
-
Just seen the piccy .... really beautiful! I once stroked a ray ... ugh ... not a poisonous one though, natch!! Off to watch the ducks now ... I'm getting really brave! Would panic if one waddled up towards me though - which is why I don't sit near anyone with food! >:D
-
Quack quack..... ;D
-
I stroked one too recently -- so soft and velvety -- and, the stingers were removed to avoid the hazard. They are so gentle, and their eyes sweet -- we actually looked at each other. It was a precious moment, truly!
-
Threeb I feel sick!! T - bog off! >:D
-
Quack qua qua quack quacky quack quack, qua qua qua quacky quack.....
[or- if what you're eating looks healthy, we will leave you alone....]
-
Oh, those EYES, those FEATHERS, ....
-
Is she eating ... AGAIN!???
-
The following creatures are probably on you list of personal horrors, LL. If so.....many apologies !
-
;D ;D ;D ;D
-
:D I liked that Binx ... bats are not one of my favourite creatures but not as bad as b***s! Of course, hags must maintain a certain fondness for them!
When I worked in a castle a bat flew in to my office, which was fairly terrifying!! Had to sidle out of the room to get help ... a man with a fishing net came to my rescue!! >:D
-
I'm not worried by bats, which is fortunate, because they were my youngest son's favourite animal ! He even raised an orphaned flying fox, and I discovered that they really are fascinating creatures.
-
We had a colony of about 250 insectivorous bats living in the roofspace of a previous house. They were amazingly tame/timid. Whenever a cat caught one which was often, and it was rescued, it would cling onto our shirts, and crawl all over us. They never tried to bite or sctratch. And they felt fantastic: like velvet. Whenever a child found a dead bat (again mostly due to a cat), my girls would hold elaborate bat funerals in the garden with hymns and flowers and solemn pomp and ceremony.
We never even saw a mosquito :) :D :) Unfortunately the whole symbiotic relationship came to an abrupt end one evening when the celing caved in dumping a gluey mixture of water, bat guano and fibreglass insulating material (pink batt) into daughter #2's bedroom. The cause was a broken thermostat on the hot water tank which resulted in a constant water overflow. The overflow pipe had somehow broken off, resulting in the water soaking into the pink batt. And of course, eventually the ceiling boards could no longer hold this weight. Thank goodness for insurance!
Anyway, the bats freaked out and left en masse. and within a couple of weeks, we had a mosquito problem. We all really missed the bats! They returned about two years later. We didn't say a word to the buyers when we sold. I highly recommend living with bats. They're cute and peaceful. And they keep the place insect-free. Would import a colony into our present home if it were possible.
-
This may not be a problem where you live, Bobbi, but here in the U. S. bats are susceptible to rabies. People don't want them in their houses for this reason particularly, aside from any "eeew" factor. But we are encouraged to provide bat houses in our yards.
-
There's a lot of info at BCI (Bat Conservation International) including myths, bat houses, bat habitats, etc.
http://batconservation.net/home/default.asp
-
I love bats too and am always saddened when the cats kill one. I have never managed to rescue one, but you are right Bobbi, they are the softest little things imaginable. The ones we get are fruit bats. Africa is a rabies area, but I have never heard of anyone getting rabies from a bat, in fact there are very seldom any cases and when there is one it is invariably out in one of the really remote areas
-
Hope this is readable !
-
and this describes my life to a T !
-
The mother's spit was so true! My kids and I still chuckle over those "good old days" -- and cringe at the same time!
My slice of life definitely also consists of looking for stuff I had a minute ago -- but the "sleeping" portion in my case is MUCH smaller!
-
From the 12 o'clock position mine would read in a clockwise direction...
Eating, sleeping, working, looking for things...
-
It's vaguely annoying to have to say something when you post a picture......
-
don't you think ?
-
so you noticed too?
-
.
-
Clever clogs !! :D :D :D :D :D
-
Binx, can you get me a copy of that magazine...there are some very interesting articles i would like to read...
-
.

Bats are great insect eaters, and that's one reason scientists/environmentalists are very concerned about a problem they're just learning about: there have been huge die-offs in the caves they roost in. It's not sure if it's a cause or an effect, but the bats all have white noses from a fungus. They wake up earlier than they should from hibernation, struggle toward the cave entrance, and die there, mostly in an emaciated state.
Yet another thing I learned in the nature conference I just went to.
-
We really rely on bats here in Texas a lot to keep down the enormous insect population.
Between the depletion of bats, and now bees (who, of course, pollinate nearly EVERYTHING), we won't need global warming, gas hikes or wars to keep humans from extinction!
-
Gosh Birdie, that's dreadful! I haven't heard anything about it here.
Threeb, is the bee problem in Texas because of the African bees killing off your indigenous population?
-
There are a number of theories about this phenomenon, which is going on all over the country, not just Texas, toni.
It's called Colony Collapse Disorder, with a good summary at Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colony_Collapse_Disorder
-
On another ever so slightly related topc .... I was watching QI the other night and the fantastic Stephen Fry said that there are more tigers in Texas than anywhere else in the world! Have you got one in your back yard, threeb?! >:D
-
we have a couple - not in our back yard, but up the road at Whangerei
if you take a look, although his main focus is lions, he also has some tigers
www.zionwildlifegardens.co.nz/
http://tvnz.co.nz/view/tv2_story_skin/430614?format=html
-
I wish! No, just mostly kitty-cats looking for a handout or cool shade in our backyard.
I think the tigers are pretty much caged away here ... it's not an African plain quite yet ...
We do, however, have our share of mountain lions and coyotes still roaming about, though ... not to mention a vast array of nasty bugs (scorpions, centipedes) and snakes!
-
The tigers SF was talking about were privately owned!! Pretty horrid, I think! >:D
-
Most owners nowadays keep them pretty secreted because of stringent laws, but every so often, a story creeps out about it. Yes, some of the conditions can be rather terrible. I just don't think it's very safe having a 400-lb. cat with huge claws and jaws romping about in the living room! My limit is about 10-15 lbs. worth of feline love!
-
Prescatly! >:D Geddit?!! >:D
-
V. clever, o great hag! >:D
-
I love the Zion gardens piccies, too, bobbi! Fearsome but magnificent creatures!
-
No dog could ever come close! Though I do like wolves and foxes! >:D
-
They are beautiful...yes. I've seen a fox or two out here, running across the road occasionally. We get the red ones up in the hills, and a naturalist friend of mine has several kits at his ranch who visit daily. He said they've gotten very friendly, and wait for the expected hand-out, which he gladly provides.
-
Thank goodness fox hunting has been banned over here although some of it still goes on, I believe! Pompous prats on horses ... disgusting! >:D
-
I always thought about the poor foxes being "hounded" mercilessly, and then executed or torn to shreds. Just so someone can have a trophy to wear on their backs, or mount on a wall! Hideous, yes!
-
Meryl Streep was on Jonathan Ross the other night describing the lions while filming Out of Africa, and she said they had all come from California....better class of growling i gather, better tuition!!! Although their demands in their trailers were very over the top......fresh Impala daily....pedicures....[which obviously take longer] muddy toilet water to drink..etc etc etc....
-
Well, they can be very persuasive! >:D
-
Why is it that cats ignore their bowls of fresh water and slurp any old dirty water that's gathered in pools outside? >:D
-
I suppose they see like some of us regard bottled water. Out of the tap's good enough for me ... reverting back to the wild!
-
Considering how they keep themselves clean maybe the dirty water is to take the taste away....
-
... never thought of that! Tap water? Ugh ... Highland Spring or Evian for me! >:D
-
Most tests show that it's no better than tapwater ... sorry to disillusion you ...
-
But it tastes so much better .... actually our tap water is very nice up here but I only use it for cleaning my teeth! >:D
-
You use a lot less soap, shampoo, dishwasher stuff and washing powders than we do down here...the water is dreadfully limey and hard...in fact you have to regularly descale your teeth...
-
... ugh! Our water is very soft .... bit like me! >:D
-
I'm saying zippo............ :-R :-R :-R
-
Good! >:D
-
I am only posting this because... well, i just wanted too.... don't know why really...but hey....
-
Here is another.....
-
No ... doesn't do anything for me, I'm afraid!
-
How about...
-
AAAAHHH!!! Of course he wouldn't....you have the unfortunate habit of liking the likes of Pete D....i understand now...
I like though......
-
Absolutely revolting!
Too much of everything ... except hair!
Give me tall, skinny, pale, dark haired, mean and moody any day .... Pete?!
-
Well, mates ... you have a wonderful day -- I don't have any piccies, but you can see my dust as I fly off to another grinding day at work!
Catch you lovely hags soon, I hope! >:D >:D >:D >:D
-
You have a lovely day, too, mate! Have you showered and got ready for work in such a short time? Let me in on the secret! :'(
-
Clothes and toiletries laid out in advance, hair washed yesterday, purse, keys and sundries sitting on table by the door. Just pour another coffee into travel mug, and away I go!
-
Threeb, the bee problem is terrifying! I hadn't heard anything about it, so I don't think the problem has arrived here yet.
As far as the tigers go, I actually hate the idea of animals in cages, except the really good zoos who do their best to recreate the animals natural habitat. I was dying to see a fox when I was staying with friends in London last Christmas. They have a regular visitor, but he did not oblige while I was there, but I see the cute red squirrel that lives in the garden of my family in France every time I am there. They also see the odd wild boar, but I never have.
-
Spend a day with me in college Toni, and you will see lots of them mate...
-
Red squirrels I presume? Although I do know some people I would class as "wild boar" and even more "wild bore"!
-
They're the ones Toni...the boarish variety!!
-
There's plenty of feral pigs/wild hogs here in the south, mates, huge fangs and all! They're mean, fast, prolific and far-ranging, and are hunted regularly. Here's a photo our newspaper ran recently.
-
That is a picture of Eddy and Tosh...2 of my motor vehicle students...
-
I'll bet their drivers' license photos have raised a few eyebrows, then! >:D
-
You would think they would have had a shave and brushed their teeth???
-
Oh dear, oh tusk,tusk ! :D
-
Very funny Binx....
-
Oh lord, T, how do you survive?
Threeb, those are like the ones in France. They are hunted there too. Last year the season was extended because they are also very prolific. Chris told me she had seen the funniest sight. Their land edges a farmers field which extends into the woods. She heard a commotion and went to see and there was a small wild pig running hell for leather across the field, chased by a small. very excited terrier. She didn't see the outcome of it all, but hopefully piggy got home and so did pup! ;D
-
I can't decide who i would put money on to win that fight!!
-
as long as Mom doesn't interfere...
-
Step away from my Invisible Sandwich- or i'll scratch your bloody eyes out....and i mean it!!! >:(
-
Ok..i'll just hang around for a bit...but these aren't those nice padded smelly ones i've heard about???
-
No ... mine are far superior and still smelly! >:D
-
Stick 'em up !!!
-
Remember the Pig'in'boots?
Well here is the indoor version of slippers.....
-
Awwwwww! :D :D :D :D :D
-
.
-
.
-
Oh, mates -- you've all outdone yourselves today -- I came home and just grinned from ear to ear -- cutest little piccies, and hilarious joke! Thanks for really giving me a larf or five!
-
You're just going to have to get that pet pig T. All those accessories. :D
-
A curling iron for the tails???
-
Nope, seriously uncool - in this current fashion clime, you would use a straightener. My girls both of whom have pretty straight hair, use hair straighteners on their locks every day. Go figure.
-
Oh those were lovely! My internet went for a burton and I've been off-line, but clever John has sorted it. What fun to come back to! ;D ;D
-
Hi Toni,
translation please: "went for a burton"?
-
Gone for a Burton
1-A WW2 RAF expression for missing presumed dead, usually at sea.
2- Used in the 1930's for ads for Bass beer brewed at Burton-on-Trent.
3- RAF casualty records were kept near the Burton Menswear shop/ factory in Blackpool.
4- Morse code instructions for wireless operators took place in a converted billiards hall above Burtons shop in Blackpool.
So, to sum up ....basically it means lost or f***e* up....
-
Not very encouraging for would be travellers-bearing in mind this is the busiest weekend of the year for people jetting away to sunnier climes....
-
Say no more--------------------
-
Is that why you didn't post it on the "Forumites changing lightbulbs" thread, T? Good choice!
-
Thanks T. I had no idea where "went for a burton" comes from, I just know it means f****d up.
-
oh, and thanks for the translation, T - interesting how so many of our phrases come from advertising, isn't it?
-
Your welcome fellow forumates...
As i say to my 2- 'I'm a mother, i know everything!!!!!'
-
Burton sounds vaguely akin to our term, SNAFU. Military personnel love using this acronym, which basically boils down to: "Situation Normal -- All F****d Up".
-
.
-
Ouch!!!
-
Hope this appears large enough to be decipherable.......
-
might be my eyes, but I couldn't read it.
-
If you click on the caption (lion1.jpg), you can open a larger version of the image in a new window.
(in the jungle, the mighty jungle...) Oh Binkie! I think I have that melody stuck in my head for the next few hours at least. Oh well, I'll just have to watch some telly with familiar siggie tunes to dislodge old dozy Simba. Hmm...what's on telly? Home and Away - that'll do ;)
-
I must be slow - still didn't get it after clicking on the caption to open a larger window. Have I done something wrong?
-
"...you know we belong together, you and I forever and ever. Anywhere you are, you're my shining star..."
Nope, I think I'll look at that lion again. Might be singing awimbawe, awimbawe in my dreams, but it's less cheesy than Home and Away. ;D ;D
-
Right click on pic and copy and paste in to a Word doc and click on pic again choose square from toolbar which should now have appeared and enlarge by placing cursor over one of the corner 'handles' and dragging! Anything to help my future sister-in-law!!
-
You know, LL, for a goddess you have a remarkable technical ability !
-
Not just a haggish face, you know, mate! >:D
-
The totally brilliant hag -- within, and without, LL!
-
You're too kind, mate! Am at work at mo and have just been to dentist .... £44.60 for a tiny filling ... am practically speechless!!
Weather report: North West England is scorchio today!! >:D
-
....and North East Scotland too!!! Has been 26 deg all week.....
-
You're "Having a tropical heat wave" -- that was another song!
Our skies have been cloudy last few days -- aftereffects of Hurricane Dolly -- and some good drenching yesterday. By the weekend, tho, it will be back to our usual mid-90s (C.) frying pan.
-
Thanks Lina, I couldn't see or get the lion pic either. Never thought of pasting it! I am not very technical.
-
I rather think Holly is a drama queen in the making !
-
And little brother is definitely a SNAG, if you see what he's holding !
-
Oh they are SO cute!
-
They really are marvelous little darlins, binks! (Must be in the genes!)
-
I think they're rather gorgeous, I must admit, but I'm a tad biased !
-
I really, really want one of these. No growing old gracefully for me !
-
the binklets are absolutely gorgeous!
I love the way small children flirt so naturally with the camera lens - who could resist Holly?
not so sure about the bike despite the humour.
-
Oh come on, Bobbi ! Can't you just see yourself roaring down the highway, terrifying all and sundry ?
-
Think I'll stick to my beloved TT for the time being. Ask me again in a couple of years when the novelty of my roadster has worn off. >:D
-
Yes - I can see why you love it !
-
.
-
I'll pass on the carpet, but fresh lino...yum :-H
-
:D :D :D :D
-
Top Chinese pop group ready to perform at the opening ceremony.
-
I think they'll have to use amplifiers - I think pandas generally don't have very loud voices.
-
And they'll probably have a clause in their contract that the hotel must provide extra bamboo!
-
I don't think pandas can sing very well either!
-
Kiss in panda disguise :D :D
-
By chance, there was a program on TV last night on wildlife in China - it showed the first ever photo of wild male pandas fighting and the winner mating with the female. I have to take back my opinion that their voices are quiet. However, I will just change it to say that I doubt that their songs would be tuneful - more hoarse - quite a bit more growly than Johnny Cash.
-
Long live Johnny Cash, the man in black! (no white, though -- or the pandas might have made him a mascot) ;)
-

-
For those who have ever watched "Myth Busters"
-
I do, I do! Where did you find that, binks? How so very hilarious!! ;D
-
I can't even remember where I found it, but it's perfect, isn't it ?
-
An exact likeness! He could use it on his driver's license!
-
Maybe that's where I found it ! :D :D :D
-
.
-
Awwww, how cute! ;D
-
I thought so !

-
They're brilliant, Geo ! :D :D :D
-
Truly -- the stick figures elevated to comic art form -- who'd-a-thunk?
-
I've never seen those before. They are so cute!
-
And now for the not-so-cute -
-
:D :D :D :D Love that!
Reminds me of a joke ...
Two men in a bar
One says
"Your round"
The other says
"And you're a fat bastard!"
:D >:D >:D >:D
-
;D ;D
-
;D ;D ;D
-
Yep, liked that too LL.
I'm going to enlarge the 'stick men drinking', put our names in and pin it to my sister's fridge >:D

Love it!

You're all being udderly silly about this, and milking it for all its worth, aren't you?
-
Would you like a little CHEESE with that whine? >:D
-
Edam you, Threeb ! Got an answer for everything!

P.S. It was a gouda one, though!

Feeling a bit bleu today!

.
-
Abso*u#@ingly brilliant, binks! >:D
-
Here are photos of a polar bear attack on a man caught in the open.
These pictures were taken in Alaska. People watched and could do nothing to stop the attack. One person captured the terrifying scene using a telephoto lens. Reports from the local newspaper say that the victim should make a full recovery.
This is not for the squeamish, so be warned...
-
Aaahhh! That is SO cute.
-
I want one!!!!!!! The bear that is.....not the leg
-
And a lovely contrast to the oh-too-often repeated views of an attack by a polar bear on a woman at zoo, which runs frequently as as ad to a program on animal attacks on our Animal Planet cable channel.
-
I'll fight you for it Geo......I'm just the right height to chew your ankle...
SEE me and the polar bear have something in common already....
-
OK T, you can have it.
Don't want my ankle chewed (how could you do that to a fellow forumite??)
Your climate is probably better for the little cutie - too hot for the poor bear
The little cutie will grow up to be a VERY BIG one
All yours - I'm not selfish ;D
-
This pooch is ready ... are YOU?
-
.
-
Soooooooooo cute! >:D
-
As we say over here (heaven knows why) Ag shame!!
-
What a shame ... poor, adorable penniless kitty made to slave away for a few meager drops of milk! There's gotta be a law against that! >:D
-
That nearly made me shed a tear....
.........talking of sheds- get back in there girls and shut the door...............
-
Aw, c'mon, T, it's the holiday season - let the kids out for a couple of minutes once in a while.
-
You softy Birdy...they were out to do the washing up...what more do they want???
-
.
-
.
-
.
-
Wow -- something to look forward to, eh? >:D
-
What do you mean, "Look forward to"? I took that photo of us yesterday !
-
Oh! you are a kidder Binx....
-
;D ;D ;D
-
.
-
Like some monster movie, binks! ;D
I wonder what the Aussie version is? Must be a giant wallaby or koala! Scary, either way!
-
Great picture, Binks! That giraffe needs to get out on the jogging track!
-
Hilarious Binx ...
-
My kind of exercise
-
Indeed! (Hic) ...

Tres amusant.....

-
Awww. .... soooooooo devilishly handsome! >:D
-

-
Love the elephant, Binks. Baby elephants really are the most endearing creatures.
-
Aren't they just ? Pity the average home garden can't have one !
-
Another great find, binks -- keep 'em comin'!
-
Is that our newbie CB in that piccy of the kitty?
-
Prob'ly! :D But when I don't go to school, they have to get in a supply (substitute for left-pondians) teacher.
But at least we get good holidays.
CB
